FOR YEARS - HCC
For years I’ve talked to Jesus, oh so small I was.
He helped me not to be afraid.
Jesus was my friend, my guide to love.
I remember clear as day, my Yiayia, (Grandmother)
Praying on her knees. Hours she would pray.
She loved Jesus and did believe.
On the wall she kept and brought,
All the way from Greece, a keepsake from her heart,
Christ’s picture, yes, would you believe.
She made a promise to God the Father,
That if she came to America,
She would bring this precious picture.
Her thankyou to God. She came legally to America,
My father was there too. All done the right way,
Ushered in by God, these immigrants, my family.
And I smile to know this God of love,
As I see this picture on my wall.
