September 2022 MMS Newsletter

A Note from Steve

Last week we announced our new Distributor and Installation Agreement with Exline, Inc. to be MMS’s exclusive representative in the USA. It's hard for me to fathom that any company today could have started in 1872 and still be a family-owned business. Obviously, something good is going on in that company. Their Ignition and Automation Group is an ideal fit for all of our products. We are looking forward to taking advantage of their internal knowledge and expertise in selling and installing our products.

Beyond the obvious synergies between our two companies, we are both alliance partners with Radical Combustion Technologies. We are all excited about the new technologies RCT and MMS will be rolling out in early 2023. Stay tuned in.

On another front, we will be field testing our new Sentinel “automated compressor diagnostic” program next month on a 2 stage storage compressor. We have extensively tested this program in the lab, feeding it known compressor faults, so we feel confident going into the field trial but there is nothing like testing a new program with live data. Putting our customers first drives our ongoing goal of quality outcomes. The benefit to our customers is huge, no more sending their critical operations data to a 3rd party web application and no more paying the ridiculous monthly subscription fees they demand.

The new Sentinel diagnostic program is a collaboration between our SME, Warren Laible and ACI Services Software group. The new program is embedded in a special MMS version of the ACI eRCM Kernel and will be installed on each of our CPM (Compressor Performance Monitor) modules going forward. The diagnostic program is designed to alert the Operations Department when any typical compressor fault is observed. The program provides details about the specifics of the identified faults. We’ll keep you updated on our results.

Training & Development

Why using the right equipment is important in Engine Balancing

The pressures being collected by the balancer must be an accurate representation of the combustion pressures in the cylinders. The condition of the pressure sensor, the condition of the indicator passage and valve, the presence of resonant pressure waves in the pressure trace, or leakage in the indicator path will prevent an accurate balance.

Engine Mean Peak Firing Pressure Balancing is a course designed to support our

customer’s needs for training both new and/or inexperienced personnel the theory (why) and the

basics (how) of balancing an engine and why balancing is important to the health and safety of

the equipment. This course is offered as a self-paced course through the mmsysllc.com website.

This dynamic new course was developed by the MMS team including Warren Laible, the well-known Subject Matter Expert for engine health and Bryan Stewart, who has over 40 years of experienced with gas engines.

To learn more about the theory and practical application of balancing an engine or for more information about the Engine Mean Peak Firing Pressure Balancing course contact MMS or your Exline Sales team. You can also Contact Us through our website.
