MMDA has had a highly successful funding season. In its 2023 Fall 9% Round, New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) made awards to Neighbors of Watertown’s Apartments at Mill & Main to construct 63 supportive housing units in Watertown and Regan Development’s Colvin Avenue Apartments toward the construction of 63 affordable residential units and a childcare center in Albany. People Inc.’s Juniper Apartments received an HCR 9% award, plus a Homeless Housing and Assistance Program (HHAP) award of $2,669,234, to construct a total of 65 mixed-income units across two buildings in Hamburg.
HHAP was also awarded to the following projects:

Regional Economic Community Action Program’s Fresh Start Apartments received $4,934,910 to construct 11 units of permanent supportive housing in Newburgh.

Utica Center for Development’s Rev. Dr. Mary Webster Wellness Center received $9,967,121 toward the rehabilitation of a former YWCA into 20 units of permanent supportive housing with a ground floor wellness center, which will include Utica’s only indoor pool open to the surrounding community.

YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County’s Persimmon Place received $4,066,513 to create a 12-unit emergency family shelter in Rochester.
Finally, Allegany County Community Opportunities and Rural Development’s Wellsville Apartments received an award of $2,748,557 from HCR’s HOME-ARP program to construct six townhome-style units in Wellsville, which will serve as the first units of permanent supportive housing in Allegany County.
