TfL is London’s integrated transport authority responsible for meeting Mayor Sadiq Khan’s strategy and commitments on transport in London. We run the day-to-day operation of the Capital’s public transport network and manage London’s main roads. Technology and data is instrumental for us to operate our network, to make customers’ journeys easier and to plan for the future. Millions of journeys are made each day on our transport network, generating millions upon millions of bits of information. Translating this vast amount of data into intelligence to drive improvement is our goal. Lauren will speak about our approach to harnessing this data, and in particular how we’ve used it over the past eighteen months during the response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Session 3E, 11:50am-12:50pm, July 20, 2021

And also about how we moved from an internal startup to valuable corporate data services. Session 15E, 10:15am-11:15am, July 22, 2021

"Embracing AI When Your Industry is in Flux"
By Thomas H. Davenport & Randy Bean
One of the great challenges we have seen businesses face in recent years is how they approach data and analytics (and now artificial intelligence) when their industries are undergoing major transformation. It’s hard enough to create a data-driven culture, compete on analytics, develop data-driven products and services, and so forth under normal business conditions. We always have our doubts when executives claim to have done it successfully. We are much more trusting when we’re told that the organization is simply making progress toward the goal.
