Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Honored with Multiple Awards for Outstanding Programs and Initiatives



PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL - The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections recently received several distinguished awards recognizing innovative and effective programs that aim to make Palm Beach County the best place to vote.

 

“We are deeply honored to receive these awards, which underscore our dedication to transparency, accountability, service, and innovation in the election process,” said Wendy Sartory Link, Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. “These recognitions reflect the hard work and commitment of our entire team to ensure that Palm Beach County remains a leader in election integrity and voter experience.”

 

Industry awards won and winning entries to date in 2024 include:

 

EAC Clearie Awards

 

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission honored the Elections Office with two Clearie Honorable Mention Awards, celebrating exceptional programs implemented in 2023. This was when election administrators could implement new programs and test their effectiveness before the expected increased turnout of the presidential election.

 

Category: Distinguished Voter Education and Communications Initiatives – Large Jurisdictions


Winning Entry: The Elections Experience Tour


Since 2019, the Elections Office has hosted annual tours of the Voting Equipment Center to enhance transparency and voter education. The 2023 tour, led by Supervisor Wendy Link, guided participants through nine educational stations, including "Ballot Creation" and "Tabulation." Over 1,000 participants have experienced this tour, with a video series available online for those unable to attend in person.

This program, using the SmartSheet application, efficiently manages non-digital records with a user-friendly dashboard, ensuring compliance with retention schedules and timely destruction processes.

The prestigious Reed Awards, presented annually by Campaigns & Elections, recognized the team with four awards for excellence in voter education:

Winning Entry: A Message from Your Supervisor of Elections: Get Election Ready


Sent to every registered voter, this tri-fold brochure featured crucial information to empower voters and ensure they are "election ready" for 2024. The mailer, presented in English and Spanish, covered topics such as verifying voter information, voting methods, and becoming poll workers, all designed to enhance civic engagement.

By leveraging Informed Delivery graphics, the office ensured voters received a visual preview of important election information, enhancing awareness and participation.

Winning Entry: Requesting a Vote-by-Mail Ballot: Easy as 1 – 2 – 3


This low-cost postcard targeted likely Vote-by-Mail voters, addressing new state laws requiring ballot request renewals. The bilingual mailer included a QR code for easy renewal, ensuring accessibility and effective engagement.

AAPC Pollie Award

 

The office received a Bronze Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), a recognition honoring outstanding achievements in election communications.

Winning Entry: Your ballot request has expired. Renew today!


This SMS campaign effectively prompted voters to renew their mail ballot requests, with nearly 2,500 requests processed directly from the texting program. The campaign’s success highlights the potential of SMS in election communication.
