CIG On-Farm Trial Funding Available

NRCS has opened up the application period for Conservation Innovation Grants for on-farm trials. This year's funding priorities are climate-smart agricultural solutions, irrigation water management, nutrient management, and soil health. Applications are being accepted now through 9/22/2022. Inflation Reduction Act Passes US Senate

On Sunday, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The bill would provide significant investments for agriculture, including over $20 billion in funding to support farmers' implementation and expansion of voluntary on-farm conservation practices and $500 million to provide greater market access for higher blends of biofuels. Transparency in Poultry Grower Contracting and Tournaments


The attorneys general of 10 states is backing a proposed rule by the USDA. The USDA soliciting comments on its proposed rule until August 23rd. The proposal would require poultry dealers to provide information to producers compared with other producers with more specifics about the chicken that they provide, read more here.

Precision Ag Study


In 2021, a study found that farmers who use precision technology saw a 4% increase in crop production, a 7% increase in fertilizer placement efficiency, a 9% reduction in herbicide and pesticide use, and 6% reduction in fossil fuel use. More here.  

Increased Gluten Quality Varieties Coming Soon


Oklahoma State University Wheat Genetics Chair, Brett Carver has been working to develop new wheat varieties through OSU's Wheat Improvement Team that have better gluten strength to produce higher quality bread products. The full article can be found here.

Applications are now open for the 2022-2023 Maryland Farm Bureau Ambassador program, a scholarship and leadership development initiative for Maryland's Farm Bureau member families.
