Our Sweet Pony Boy Finds His New Family!

Pony Boy (now named Gus) came to the MCSCPA as a lost pet back in November and was sadly never claimed by an owner. It's not always easy to find a 90lb dog a home, so Pony Boy waited and watched out his window for months wondering when a new family would choose him.

Finally, on a sunny day in March, members of the Deal Fire Department stopped by the shelter hoping to find a new station dog and it was love at first sight! Gus was adopted by the fire station and is now their official mascot ❤

Gus will now provide company, companionship and help our first responders reduce stress levels just by being his wonderful self! This heartwarming adoption goes to show that a loving shelter dog is waiting out there for every family - or firehouse!

Not Your Average Rescues!

In mid-March, our Animal Control Officers responded to a call from a property owner in Tinton Falls concerned about some abandoned fish. Upon arrival, officers discovered about a dozen goldfish living in a swampy makeshift pond at the back of the property. It turned out that these little guys were left behind when the tenant moved away 😥 A friend of the MCSPCA with multiple ponds on his property offered to give them a fin-tastic home where they will live happily with other fishy friends.

There must have been something in the water, because later that same month, our ACOs responded to a call about abandoned fish in Eatontown. Once again, a tenant had packed up and left! Fortunately, with the assistance of the Jersey Shore Aquarium Society and All About Pets of Sea Girt, the fish were quickly removed and rehomed. The sweet swimmers were donated to a local hospital and an elementary school, where they will be cared for and admired as they should be!

A Mother's Work is Never Done ❤

Recently, a sweet, stray mama cat was being monitored in our tech room while recovering from an infection. It’s not unusual to see something like this at the shelter, but her litter of kittens made it a family affair ❤ Every mom knows that there are no days off from being a parent, and we so admire the way she stayed strong for herself and her babies! Our mama cat continued to nurse her kittens and keep them cozy, despite being hooked up to IV fluids and battling a low-grade fever. The whole family has since been adopted and are happy and healthy in their fur-ever homes.

We're so happy to have been able to care for her so that she could care for her babies! We're able to give these pets the love and TLC they deserve thanks to your donations ❤

Congratulations and Mazel Tov to Jackson and Abigail!

Jackson and Abigail collected pet food, treats, toys, and other supplies for our shelter as a part of their service project, Mitzvah Muttz. They also set up their own fundraising page for family and friends to donate directly to the Monmouth County SPCA in honor of their B’Nai Mitzvah! Congratulations again to Jackson and Abigail, we wish you great happiness on this special occasion 😄

Lucky for Us!

We want to give a big GREEN shoutout to Hot Mess Salon and Style Rocket Boutique in Asbury Park for hosting their Lucky Paws Puppy Party benefit for the MCSPCA on St. Patrick’s Day ☘ Their creative prowess sure did lead to a pot of gold…they raised almost $600 for the animals at the Monmouth County SPCA!

We know how lucky we are to have such a clever and passionate community, and we’re so appreciative of their support!

Pearly Whites Partners

One of the most common issues we see in incoming shelter animals is poor dental health. Surgical dental procedures can be costly and time-consuming but they are critical to the well-being of our pets! We are so grateful to have local veterinarians part of our Pearly Whites Program, who provide no-fee procedures to our shelter animals ❤ We can't thank them enough for keeping our pets happy, healthy, and helping them get closer to a forever home!

Kitten Season is Upon Us!

The babies are coming, and our fosters have their heating discs, kitten replacement milk, playpens, and baby wipes ready to go ❤ We're so lucky to have a team of such dedicated fosters, who are ready at any moment, to take these babies into their care. From infant bottle babies who need round-the-clock care, to older kittens who just need a week to gain weight, our volunteer fosters are critical to our mission!
