Message from the MCRA Chair

Have you seen the new Serino Park? You’ll be delighted to see the new improvements to this local park in our south area, a project funded by the Margate CRA and unveiled on September 2. And don’t forget that you can still apply for a Property Improvement Grant Program from the MCRA if your property is within the district’s boundaries. We want to help you restore, renovate, and improve your property—more details on these two projects are below.

MCRA Funds Renovations to Serino Park

After approximately $2 million in renovations funded by the MCRA, the City of Margate has unveiled a new Serino Park, 5600 SW 8th Court. Stop by this local park to enjoy the new playground with safety surfacing, a fitness court, covered picnic tables and park benches, landscaping upgrades, decorative up-lighting, and other site improvements.

Grant Program Still Accepting Applications

If you have a residential or commercial property located within the boundaries of the Margate CRA, you are eligible to apply for the MCRA Property Improvement Program Grant. The CRA has approved $2 million to be distributed for eligible commercial and single-family, condominium, and multi-family properties.

City Wins Gold Civic Experience Award

The City of Margate earned first place in the 2023 Civic Experience Award for its new Property Improvement Grant Program (PIP). The Civic Experience Awards recognize local governments working hard to improve civic experiences in ways that create greater resident satisfaction and safer, cleaner, and more profitable communities. The grant has been offered for citywide properties and for those located within the MCRA district.

Sounds at Sundown Returns Oct & Nov

The crowds love the bands that come to play at our monthly Sounds of Sundown on the first Saturday of the month, another project funded by the Margate CRA. On October 7, we’re presenting Reaxtion Band, and on November 4, come watch Big City Dogs play at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road, from 5-9 p.m.
