COVID-19 Vaccines Update
From MDPH’s COVID-19 Vaccine
Equity Initiative
As a trusted partner in families’ lives, you are uniquely qualified to reach out to them about why and how to vaccinate their children and loved ones against COVID-19. By sharing your belief in the vaccine, you can help families feel confident about vaccinating their young children. By providing information about how to get the vaccine, you make it easier for them to do so.
Here are some resources that can help with your outreach:
-
Send a message to your patients and their families letting them know that you trust the vaccine and encourage them to vaccinate their children. You could send a voicemail, email, or written note. The message could be something like:
- Hi, this is __________ with an important message for your child’s health: the COVID-19 vaccine is now available for children aged 6 months and older. The vaccine is effective and safe. It is free for everyone. [NOTE: If your office is not able to vaccinate at this time, you could say: Please use Vaxfinder.mass.gov to find a vaccine clinic near you, or call 211 if you need help finding a clinic.]
-
Print out or email a flyer and FAQs about the vaccine for children 6 months to 5 years (in multiple languages)
-
Read and share Messages about the vaccine for children 6 months to 5 years (in multiple languages).
-
Share a short video about vaccine safety and effectiveness (in English and Spanish) on your website, in newsletters, or on social media.
-
Retweet DPH on Twitter or create your own social media message, using a DPH social media graphic.
-
Publicize free, family-friendly clinics that do not require appointments with this flyer (in multiple languages).
-
Share this flyer with strategies for making shots hurt less from VaxAbilities, and share information about VaxAbilities’ upcoming disability-friendly clinics.
To increase your patients’ access to COVID vaccinations:
-
Provide the vaccine at your clinical site and let patients and their families know it is available.
-
Hold a free clinic at your site! Take advantage of the state’s mobile vaccination service, available at no cost to you. You only need to provide space, such as a lobby, conference room, or parking lot, and let your families know the clinic is happening. You can request a clinic here.
-
Let people know that free in-home vaccinations are available for people with difficulty getting to or using a community location. You can download a flyer to share.
-
Share the list of family-friendly community clinics for all ages.
Thank you for your commitment to the well-being of children and for all you do to protect children and their families from COVID-19.
