Allegheny Health Network

Bethel Park Imaging Center

MBM Contracting was selected as the Construction Manager for this highly anticipated project through a partnership with AHN and LGA Partners. Planning for this project started in March of 2022 as MBM worked diligently to help develop pricing and complete a very rigorous plan review process with the local township. A major addition was added to the original building that was also constructed by MBM in 2010. The addition now holds new public and private restrooms, a larger waiting and check-in area, management offices, consultation and reading rooms. The pavilions services now include three ultrasound rooms, two mammography rooms, a stress lab, a bone density room, among additional patient changing and private restrooms. Original to the building was an X-Ray room, CT room, and MRI room that were all upgraded to include new equipment and layouts for patient convenience all while maintaining those original services.

Biff graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Safety Engineering. He currently works for Oxford Development as a contracted Project Manager for Allegheny Health Network construction projects at Jefferson Hospital. He is currently involved in several projects, including the Bethel Park Breast Center & Equipment Replacement, the Uniontown Clinic, and the Jefferson Hospital 1^st Floor Master Plan Project. When Biff isn't at work he enjoys golfing and is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. In 2022, Biff's grandson Jaxson was born. He says that a grandchild really puts love into perspective!

What has your experience been like working with MBM on the Bethel Park Breast Imaging Center and other projects?

I have worked with MBM quite a bit over the past 16 years and I must say that I have enjoyed their dedication to professionalism and teamwork. The people that work for MBM, both leaders and role players, always can be counted on to make a difference with the best possible outcomes.

What were the biggest challenges on the Bethel Park Breast Center project?

We had a fairly tight construction schedule. It required a great deal of coordination with several radiology equipment vendors related to deployment of deliveries, and operational training toward the end of the project.

What AHN/MBM projects have been most memorable?

The Bethel Park Breast Center & Equipment Replacement Project has upgraded the range and quality of imaging facilities readily available to the South Hills community. Since I grew up in the South Hills area, I feel like I had an important role in making a difference. The Jefferson Hospital Master Plan is a grand project, which will phased to stretch over a period of five to six years. Currently, the majority of completed work for the Master Plan project has focused on the main lobby and atrium, but what a difference it's making to the patients and patrons, as well as the Jefferson Hospital employees.

What has been your favorite vacation?

We spend a week in Florida every Summer, whether it be Singer Island or Marco Island (our favorite spots…we love the beach).

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you…

First, my real name is Bifford. Second, I do love working, mostly because of the daily communication and interaction with people in different roles. Third, you never know what I’ m going to say next…

Marty is a new addition to the MBM team. He attended CCAC for Construction Technology and the University of Pittsburgh for Engineering. He has worked on a wide range of projects including prisons, courthouses, sports stadiums and hospitals throughout the country. Marty and his wife of 38 years have three sons, three daughter-in-laws, and four beautiful grandchildren. Welcome to MBM Marty!

What aspect of the Estimator role do you like the most?

Getting to know the subcontractors and the excitement on a bid day.

What do you like about working at MBM?

Mostly the people and the great working environment. This is truly a special place to be a part of!

What was your favorite vacation?

Just about every year in the Outer Banks with my family since 1974! I have spent over a year of my life in NC.

Favorite movie or book?

It’s a wonderful life.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you…

I am fluent in sign language (a little rusty), had both knee’s replaced at the same time nine years ago, and my youngest son is following my footsteps in estimating.
