AT&T Service Upgrades
Across Atlanta
|
As most of you know from prior articles, Google Fiber is headed to Atlanta and fiber technology in general is going to be industry standard for internet connections. However, fiber technology is not exclusive to Google. Many other companies such as Comcast and AT&T are enhancing their systems to offer the same super high-speed connections. These upgrades generally involve considerable work on the property as infrastructure is added.
|
For those of you who are familiar with our right-of-entry agreements, you know that Heritage has successfully negotiated millions of dollars for our properties from Comcast and Charter. AT&T however is considered a utility. As such, they do not have a system or budget in place for compensation. They do, however, have a system to notify the board and the homeowners prior to any work being done.
In addition to a letter, door hangers are supposed to be placed on the front doors of all residences a week prior.
|
Heritage is aware of the increase in this type of activity and has taken steps to help ensure proper notification. Some
private communities have asked if they can refuse the upgrade? This is not very common because it would prohibit any current AT&T current customers from accessing fiber service.
We understand that any major change in infrastructure, especially those requiring work on the property, can lead to a number of questions. As a result, AT&T did provide Heritage with a Frequently-Asked-Questions sheet. This form should alleviate most concerns and provide clarity for boards and homeowners. Should additional information be needed regarding a particular association, contact information is available at the bottom of the forms attached.

Mother's Day
Celebration Ideas
Keep in mind this Mother's Day that most mom's love flowers, but instead of just bringing them to her why not bring her to them? We always encourage unique experiences as a wonderful way to enjoy holidays and we have so many beautiful gardens in our own backyard!
If you have not had a chance to visit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens or Gibb's Gardens, both are spectacular and open on Mother's Day! Each property is unique in its own way and offer fun for the
entire
family.
If you decide to plan a trip, the links are below, but before you head out with mom, remember that breakfast in bed is always a great way to start the day!

HERITAGE
HELPING HANDS
GIVES BACK!
Heritage Helping Hands is the division of our company that focuses on assisting our community, supporting worthy causes and participating in charity events.
|
This month our team members proudly supported:
The Melissa Strong Toy Drive

and
The Lueder, Larkin & Hunter Legal Food Frenzy
by contributing canned goods to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

INSURANCE FOR TEAM SPORTS
Always keep in mind when preparing a budget that team sports requires additional insurance. General liability policies will not cover issues that arise as a result of tennis matches, swim meets or other organized sporting events.
Policies will cover coaches, volunteers, staff members, officers and directors. Even a single claim can be expensive.
|
When properties are quoted, insurance agents require all community information and your representative should advise the board as to what policies are needed. If you have any questions regarding your property's coverage in this area, please contact your manager who will speak to your agent directly.

TREASURER'S
CORNER
Vendor Payment Upgrades
Heritage has upgraded the methods of payment available to every vendor for all of our communities. Any vendor for any association that we manage now has the ability to be paid via credit card, ACH, or continue to receive a paper check. There are two major advantages for a vendor who elects to receives payments electronically. First, payment via credit card or ACH ensures that the vendor will receive funds faster than they do now. Secondly, electronic payments provide more security than paper checks. Vendors may be contacted at some point to establish their preferred method of payment (credit card, ACH or paper check), and other necessary information if they decide to take advantage of electronic payments.
We are excited about these upgrades and believe they
will be of great benefit to the vendors!

VENDOR'S
CORNER
Spotlight on
Playground
Safety
Make sure your community
is doing all it can to protect
your smallest residents!
The safety of our children is an important matter, but many boards do not realize that there are experts available to assist you. As the attached articles from CAU indicate there are many factors to consider, everything from protective surfacing to hazards. Although it is important for all board members to be familiar with common issues, for total piece of mind your amenities can be inspected by a Certified Playground Inspector ensuring that your association is doing everything possible to reduce the chance of an injury. See the articles below for more details and/or contact our Vendor Management Department to see about a site visit.

This season we present
A Mother's Day Poem
by a little known author.
For My Children
-Wendy Brant
If I had a million years to spend everyday with you
Simply staring at your smile,
marveling at everything you do
Just to celebrate the simple things, not one moment spent in pain
Appreciating every minute, not one moment spent in vain
Despite all the joy and laughter, the endless seasons in the sun
I'd know exactly how I'd feel on the day that it was done
If I were given such a blessing and made every moment last
I'd still look back, eyes filled with tears and say...
You grew up too fast!
