Spring Season 2024 is complete and summer is on the horizon…

CONGRATULATIONS to all our FIRST PLACE WINNERS…well done! Thank you, Michelle Chaiken, Sue Deeke, April Gallagher, Robyn Kingston, Judy Lueders, Elaine Mishler, Nicole Nielsen, Heather Simmons, Laurie Starks, Tanya Teeter and Theresa Wilton, for volunteering as our fantastic Flight Coordinators. Your work behind the scenes makes the season seamless and you are so appreciated!

BOOT CAMP was a huge success and registration SOLD OUT quickly. We were able to provide 2 wonderful indoor facilities, DFW Indoor Pickleball and Preston Playhouse. Thank you to both facilities and our podcasters, Curtis Reese and John and Karen Whitaker for making the event fun. Everyone had a blast. Our hope is to open registration next time to meet the demand as new facilities are built.

Excited to announce the Ladies Summer Indoor League Pilot is “ready to go” with 3 flights and 18 teams. Matches start May 31. Indoor facilities are under construction all over the metroplex which can only mean more growth and fun for everyone.

Would also like to extend CONGRATULATIONS to all the teams winning the Team Sportsmanship Award. It's heartwarming to read the comments from teams about having competitive and fun matches against their opponents…

Registration for Fall 2024 opens July 3. Wishing you a fun-filled, safe summer.

What a Great Season!!

First…we only had a handful of grievances filed across all six leagues. This is a huge improvement over the last couple of years. Congratulations and thank you for all you hard work.

Second…A huge THANK YOU to all the flight coordinators, captains and league directors for helping our members work through and resolve issues that I know arise every week.

Finally…thank you to my committee for being there in a moment's notice to resolve, debate and discuss the grievances that did develop. Your thorough research and expertise were invaluable.

Everyone have a great summer and we will see you in the Fall.

CONGRATULATIONS

TO ALL OUR

TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP

AWARD WINNERS!!

Good sportsmanship should be a “no brainer” because after all, aren’t we playing the sports we LOVE? But sometimes our desire to win can get the best of us and we lose sight of the “WHY” we play. This award was meant for us to remember the “why” and truly try our best win or lose.

We would like to THANK the Captains for going the extra mile and taking the time to enter scores and we would also like to THANK the players for demonstrating good behavior week in and week out! GREAT JOB!

Here are the winners, and AGAIN, THANK YOU! We hope you have a great summer, and we look forward to the fall season and a new opportunity to achieve this new award!

HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE! Man, the season flies by! End of season is bittersweet, but also CRAZY BUSY! TCD may not be “on court”, but the committees that keep TCD going are in HIGH GEAR during the summer!

One VERY important committee is the Nominating Committee. The "NomCom” is the group of volunteers that are responsible for determining the slate of new leadership for each year. The "NomCom" is made up of 7 members plus 2 alternates, with all six leagues represented from a cross section of TCD’s levels and geographic regions. After the members of the committee are approved by the Board of Directors, they will meet for approximately two days in October to interview potential candidates and decide on the best candidates to fill TCD Board positions.

If you feel you can commit to this very important committee, I would LOVE to talk with you! It doesn’t take much time and it’s a great way to give back to this incredible organization that gives so much to its’ members! I look forward to sharing my LOVE of TCD with you!

WHY I VOLUNTEER WITH TCD

Two years ago I was asked to serve on the Placement Committee for TCD. I considered it because I’ve always wondered how TCD sets the teams within the flights. I asked about the time commitment and expectations and decided it was something I could probably fit into my already busy schedule. After my first working meeting, I was incredibly impressed with how much analysis and research takes place to slot each new team appropriately. Lots of work goes into trying to get it right!

Later on that year I was invited to the Volunteer luncheon. Again, super impressed that it was held at an awesome restaurant and even included wine for lunch! But what was most impressive was when the leaders spoke about the accomplishments of the organization and how much we give back to the community and partner with the MCB Foundation with only $15 dues. It is incredible what they do with that small amount of money!!

I have served in other non-profit organizations and realize how fortunate we are to be a part of such a well run machine. When you see what goes on behind the scenes you will truly be amazed. Working with and getting to know really great people across all levels of tennis/pickleball is an added bonus!

Timla plays TCD Ladies, Love-50, and Mixed. She also plays USTA and captains and plays Metro. She serves as a TCD Mixed Flight Coordinator and on the TCD Placement Task Force. She is married and has three children.
