Greetings,

We hope everyone is doing well.

Here at the Old Dog House, the pack dynamics have changed once again.

So what's new?

We have had the craziest rainy weather and all the muddy fun that comes with it.

There were times we couldn't even get out on the road to go to town. Luckily, we had no emergencies.

Let's take a look at our newcomers.

TOBY

Toby is a happy little guy who was found as a stray in Fremont County. The shelter got him a dental and he lost all his teeth except his two lower canines which hold his tongue in his mouth. They named him Milky because of his cataract but I knew I was going to change that. I decided on the name "Louie". But the first night he was here I was calling my poodle named "Toby" and little Louie came running to me! So I guess his name had been "Toby" in his previous home. We'll give that back to him. He is around 10 years old and a good addition to the pack. He has claimed his spot in the kitchen and likes everyone.

IZZY

Izzy is a 13 year old Terrier mix who arrived June 19th. Her previous owner

was moved to a memory care facility in Illinois. Her best friend promised to find good homes for her two dogs and two cats. The friend contacted me and sent pictures. I thought she looked like a Schnauzer mix so imagine my surprise when I saw her in person- she's 48 pounds! LOL she has a bit of separation anxiety but she is adjusting well and in good health.

Stanley & Sissy

Stanley and Sissy ended up at the shelter in Texas because their owner passed away. Stanley is 9 year old Chihuahua and Sissy is a 13 year old Terrier mix. They arrived Saturday the 15th and so far they are doing great!

Welcome to the pack you two.

MAX

At 15 years old, Max was one of my oldest dogs and was 18 days short of being here one year. He had lost the use of his back legs in February but after treating

him with steroids, he got better. Once he quit begging for my dinner, I knew he was failing fast. He lost his battle with kidney failure on June 7th.

RIP Max

DIXIE

Dixie, my sweet girl, had been here just over 2 years. Last Fall she wasn't eating or acting right so I took her to our vet. We found out she had a bad lower back issue

and was in pain. The vet sent us home with medication which she refused to take after several days. Back to the vet!

I asked if he could give her a shot instead. He did and then gave me some to give to her when it got bad again. The shots worked - until they didn't. Dixie was sent over the Rainbow Bridge June 19th after we could no longer control her pain. She was fourteen to fifteen years old. I miss you Dixie.

BUG

Bug was a good dog that was possibly abused. She had been here nearly 3 years. I tried adopting her out once but she came back because she wasn't playing well with the other dog in the home. I had no problem with her and she loved to be brushed and go for short walks. She loved her food too! Unfortunately her appetite started waning and then she stopped eating. I took her to the vet where bloodwork was done and it was determined that she had severe kidney failure. I elected to let her go on June 30th. RIP Bug.
