On Wednesday, April 3rd, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 2697 by a vote of 121 to 0. This measure will now head to the Senate Chamber for either concurrence or nonconcurrence.
Purchasing Measure Survives Deadline

On Thursday, April 4th, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 2699 by a vote of 119 to 0. This measure will now head to the Senate Chamber for consideration.
County Special Meetings Measure Survives Deadline
(Senate Bill 2502)
On Tuesday, April 2nd, the Mississippi House of Representatives Accountability Efficiency and Transparency Committee passed Senate Bill 2502 out of committee. In addition, the House County Affairs Committee also passed Senate Bill 2502 because this measure was double referred. The House chamber further amended Senate Bill 2502 to allow counties to have a minimum of 24 hours to give notice of a special meeting.

Potential Rural Fire Truck Funding
(House Bill 1799)
House Bill 1799 is the agency budget for the Mississippi State Department of Insurance. Section 14 of this measure contains a line item of $9 million dollars for the Annual Fire Fund. These funds are eligible to be transferred into the Rural Fire Truck Fund at the discretion of the Insurance Commissioner. In addition, Section 15 of this measure provides $2 million for the Rural Fire Truck Matching Assistance Fund. This measure currently resides in the Senate Appropriations Committee.
House Appropriation Committee Passes Homestead Exemption Reimbursement Measure
(Senate Bill 3047)
On Thursday, April 4th, the House Appropriations Committee passed Senate Bill 3047 as amended. This measure will now head to the House Floor Calendar for consideration.
Rally for Infrastructure Funding
The Mississippi Association of Supervisors (MAS) has been informed that the Mississippi Department of Transportation will have a rally/press conference in front of the Mississippi Department of Transportation building on Tuesday, April 9th at 1:30pm to address the emergency need of more infrastructure funding for State highways and bridges as well as local roads and bridges. If available, MAS members are encouraged to attend.
