It's summertime, and as Porgy noted, "the livin' is easy." This is the time for traveling with your canine companion in tow.

The popularity of pet-friendly lodging continues to grow. Most LaQuinta, Motel 6 and Red Roof Inns allow dogs to stay for free. Many Best Western hotels also allow dogs to stay for free.

Breed of the month: BORDER COLLIE

Border collies have been called the world's greatest herders. Did you also know that:

  • One way the border collie herds animals is by "giving the eye'" which simply involves staring hard at the animals?
  • There is a Guiness World Record for the fastest car window opened by a dog - which of course was a border collie? Click here for more info.
  • That a border collie can retain up to 1000 words/cues? Click here to read more!
