With the Government announcing a further easing of COVID-19 lockdown measures yesterday, Luton BID has gathered all the latest information to help town centre businesses - here's an update on what will change from 4 July ...
More sectors to reopen - guidance for businesses
The Government has released guidance in relation to the following sectors, which are now able to reopen from 4 July:

  • Restaurants, pubs and bars – The guidance for keeping workers and customers safe in restaurants, pubs, bars and takeaway services has been updated to include information on support bubbles, social distancing, test and trace and feedback from industry. For a PDF version of the guidance please click HERE.
  • Close Contact Services The guidance for those who provide close contact services has changed. Please note: hairdressers and barbershops are among those able to reopen from 4 July. Some close contact services services however (including massage, tattoo and piercing parlours, and nail, beauty and tanning services) will remain prohibited and therefore must remain closed until further notice subject to the five tests. For a PDF version of the guidance please click HERE.
  • Visitor Economy – Guidance for people who work in hotels and guest accommodation, indoor and outdoor attractions, and business events and consumer shows - please click HERE.

The Government is asking businesses to print and display a poster to show compliance with the guidance, available HERE.

Meeting people outside your household

The government guidance provides details on how you can see people that you do not live with from 4 July, while protecting yourself and others from coronavirus (COVID-19).

Where it is possible to keep 2 metres apart people should still do so. But where it is not, the government will advise people to keep a social distance of ‘one metre plus’, meaning they should remain one metre apart, while taking mitigations to reduce the risk of transmission .

Coronavirus outbreak: what you can and can't do

The government has set out its plan to return life to as near normal as possible, for as many people, as quickly and fairly as possible in order to safeguard livelihoods, but in a way that continues to protect communities and the NHS.

The guidance sets out key FAQs to cover the next set of changes planned for 4 July.
