Further easing of restrictions from 12 April
The government has confirmed further easing of Covid restrictions from Monday 12 April, as additional premises are able to reopen with rules on social contact still in place.

This includes non-essential retail; personal care premises such as hairdressers, beauty and nail salons; and indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and spas (but not including saunas and steam rooms, which are due to open at step 3).

Hospitality venues will be able to open for outdoor service, with no requirement for a substantial meal to be served alongside alcohol, and no curfew. The requirement to eat and drink while seated will remain.

Covid Recovery starter pack items
We still have some face mask signs and social distancing floor vinyls left from the BID Covid Business Recovery packs we distributed last year.

If you would like some of these items, please email info@lutonbid.org and we will arrange a safe delivery.

The signs and vinyls will be given on a first-come-first-served basis.
Government launches new Restart Grants scheme
Luton Council is currently creating a new online form and application process for the Government's recently launched Restart Grants Scheme.

The scheme is offering a further £5billion of funding UK-wide and will be available via the Luton Council website shortly.

Businesses in England in the non-essential retail sector will be eligible for the one-off grants of up to £6,000, while businesses in the hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym sectors, which are reopening later, will be eligible for one-off grants of up to £18,000.

The funding will be delivered by Luton Council and we will communicate as soon as the application process goes live. Read further details HERE.
Twice weekly rapid testing to be available to everyone in England
Everyone in England will be able to access free, regular, rapid coronavirus testing from 9 April, the Government has announced.

The rapid lateral flow tests (LFDs) can be used for the individual ordering and their families to use twice a week, in line with clinical guidance.
