Exciting artist for Luton BID as a key sponsor of The Big Trunk Trail
Luton BID will work with Turner Prize-nominated and Luton-born artist Mark Titchner, in an exciting public art display set to launch in the town this summer.

The BID has joined the herd as the latest sponsor and Trail Progress Partner in ‘The Big Trunk Trail’ – a Wild in Art event being brought to the town by Keech Hospice Care as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.

The vibrant parade will see at least 30 dazzling elephant sculptures painted and positioned around the town’s attractions, landmarks, and open spaces for 13 weeks from 10 July 2021.

Free webinars for hospitality businesses as they reopen
A series of free webinars organised by Best Bar None, the Institute of Licensing, National Pubwatch, Purple Flag and other industry partners are being launched to help hospitality businesses reopen and recover.

The sessions will feature expert speakers from the trade associations and the Home Office, plus licensing, environmental health, HR and recruitment professionals, training experts and operators of licensed premises.

Free Travel Planning
Luton Council are offering a free travel planning service to businesses in Luton, which shares ideas on how to empower staff to change their travel behaviour when returning to the office.

Research shows that employees travelling actively; by walking or cycling for all or part of the way to work have a better health and wellbeing, they take fewer sick days and are more productive - saving businesses money.

Protect Duty Consultation
Last year the Government announced plans to introduce legislation which is intended to improve the safety and security of public venues and spaces - the proposed law is referred to as the ‘Protect Duty’.

It is envisaged that the Protect Duty will lead to a legal obligation for the owners and operators of publicly accessible locations to ensure they are prepared for a terrorist attack, and have measures in place to keep the public safe during such an incident. It reflects lessons learned following recent terrorist attacks and follows discussions with victims’ groups.

On 26th February 2021, the Government launched the consultation phase of the Protect Duty and is seeking the views of businesses and organisations that are likely to be affected by new legislation.

If this includes your business, we would encourage you to take part so you can have your say on this important matter. Responses must be completed by the 2nd July 2021. Full details can be found HERE.
