Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG)

The government has recognised that some businesses required to close may not have rateable commercial premises (and therefore won’t be covered by the LRSG schemes), while others won’t have been forced to close, but will be significantly financially impacted.

Luton Borough Council has therefore developed this discretionary grant scheme to support:
  • businesses which supply the retail, hospitality, travel and leisure sectors
  • businesses in the events and aviation sectors
  • other businesses outside the business rates system, such as taxi/private hire drivers which have also been severely impacted by the restrictions put in place and have not qualified for previous grant funding

When can you apply?
These grants will be awarded in funding tranches until the grant is used. The first tranche was open from the 7 December 2020 until 24 December 2020. A second tranche is now open until 31 March 2021.

What grant is available?
To simplify administration, the grants have been split into three levels. For those businesses most impacted, a £5,000 award will be given. Those businesses lesser impacted will be given £3,000, and finally those with a minor impact, £1,000. These are one off payments.
