MEET LUIS

 

  

 

 

Luis Silva is 12 years old, in 6th grade and loves baseball. He played for the Central Florida Wolverines travel team and in Little League until he began having trouble with his vision. A routine eye exam revealed a brain tumor and the beginning of a huge battle for this brave boy. During the past year, Luis has had 31 radiation treatments and nine rounds of chemotherapy, ending in January 2014. Luis still has a battle ahead of him, but nothing this 12 year old can't handle.

 

Luis joins FACTR Baseball as an honorary player and recipient of fundraising efforts to offset some of his medical expenses. He started the 2014 season by joining the FACTR RedHawks 11U team at a tournament in Bradenton where he was able to take a few at bats. On February 23, 2014, the Luis Silva Benefit Tournament will take place, hosted by the FACTR RedHawks. Players participating in the event for 9U, 10U, & 11U teams will be raising money to donate to the Luis Silva cancer fund. There are other scheduled events throughout the season, as well as hopes that Luis will join his FACTR RedHawks team at a few local games.
