Lourdes Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL families,

This week we started our 3rd trimester. The staff and I are excited to finish the 2023-2024 school year strong. The first step would be to attend spring conferences Thursday and Friday of this week.

Our winter STAR report along with trimester 2 report cards went home today. You are welcome to bring both of them to conferences and have a discussion with your child’s teacher(s).

I wish to thank all of you that have been sharing the good news about OLOL. I spent the first 9 years of being principal trying to achieve an enrollment of 200 students. We finally met that mark 2 years ago the week before school started. Last year we reached 200 students during the summer months. I am extremely proud to announce that we stand at 198 students enrolled and we will be at 200 students later this week. To be at 200 students, three weeks after enrollment began, is a testament to our families and staff. You are the ones that became fully engaged in spreading the word about OLOL. I am indebted to you and know that you are the main reason we are a growing school.

I hope that you have an enjoyable spring break. May God bless you with a great week and safe travels if you are heading out of town.

End of Trimester 2 - Report Cards and STAR Reports

Parents, the following information was provided by GRACE in reference to the STAR winter test results.

Please review the STAR reports and bring your questions to the parent/teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday.

Thank You

Teacher Meal during Conferences

We are once again looking forward to parent/teacher conferences, which means our wonderful teachers are working late for the good of our students!

Let's thank them by providing them with a delicious dinner. Due to conferences being immediately before spring break and vacation for many of us, as well as it being Lent, many parents have suggested catering the meal and providing financial contributions to the meal rather than purchasing ingredients.

We will be catering in Gallagher's pizza and pasta with meat items on the side so leftovers can be consumed for lunch before conferences on Friday afternoon. Special options will be available to our teachers with dietary restrictions.

Please consider donating $10 to cover the cost of your child(ren) teachers meal!

Money can be turned into the office in an envelope marked "Teacher Meal." If you prefer to use Venmo, please contact Bridget Destree at bd0105@yahoo.com or 920.904.4459.

Lectio Divina

We pray with all Catholics throughout the Green Bay Diocese

There are different ways to engage in Lectio Divina. If you are a beginner here is a process that will help you get started.

Step 1: Prepare yourself to read scripture. You will need to find a time and location where you will not be interrupted or disturbed. Ready yourself to read God’s word and see how He wants you to respond.

Step 2: Read the scripture and look for words or phrases that jump out at you.

Step 3: Reflect on those words or phrases and what they mean to you.

Step 4: Reread the scripture and spend a few moments in quiet reflection on what God is calling you to do through these words or phrases.

Step 5: Reread the scripture a third time and it is time to respond. What actions will you take after your conversation with God?

Third Sunday of Lent

John 2:13-25

Daily Readings from USCCB - View here

Since the Passover of the Jews was near,

Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,

as well as the money changers seated there.

He made a whip out of cords

and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,

and spilled the coins of the money changers

and overturned their tables,

and to those who sold doves he said,

“Take these out of here,

and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”

His disciples recalled the words of Scripture,

Zeal for your house will consume me.

At this the Jews answered and said to him,

“What sign can you show us for doing this?”

Jesus answered and said to them,

“Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”

The Jews said,

“This temple has been under construction for forty-six years,

and you will raise it up in three days?”

But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

Therefore, when he was raised from the dead,

his disciples remembered that he had said this,

and they came to believe the Scripture

and the word Jesus had spoken.

While he was in Jerusalem for the feast of Passover,

many began to believe in his name

when they saw the signs he was doing.

But Jesus would not trust himself to them because he knew them all,

and did not need anyone to testify about human nature.

He himself understood it well.
