St. Francisville Entrepreneur Says the ACA is Great for Small Businesses!
At the Dem Dames of the Felicianas meeting in Slaughter in May, Susan Davis had a question for the party representative attending the meeting. She asked: "Why isn't the party doing a better job selling the benefits of the Affordable Care Act?" She knows the benefits because she's a small business owner. She agreed to go on camera to discuss the law. The interview was recorded in her store in St. Francisville on May 29. For additional information, you can contact party headquarters by phone 225-336-4155 or by email.
Louisiana entrepreneur says the Affordable Care Act delivers big gains for small companies
BATON ROUGE -- Susan Davis has been an entrepreneur since shortly after her husband was involved in an accident the medical bills for which burned through their life savings 27 years ago. To generate income while her husband's injuries healed, she began making earrings from a box of antique buttons that had belonged to her grandmother. In that first year, she made her jewelry and sold it through craft shows and festivals.
Nearly three decades later, her Grandmother's Buttons sell through a national network of stores and individuals from her retail site in downtown St. Francisville, Louisiana.
Having learned a hard lesson early about the vagaries of health insurance coverage (she and her husband thought they had coverage at the time he was injured back in 1985), Susan Davis is a huge fan of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In fact, at the May meeting of Dem Dames of the Felicianas, she asked a representative from the state party in attendance why the party was not talking about the great benefits the ACA delivers to small businesses like hers.
On May 29, Susan Davis sat down for an interview to talk about the ACA and how it responds to the genuine needs of small businesses who want to attract and retain a skilled workforce by helping them provide health insurance coverage for their employees.
Here's a one-minute, edited version of her take on the Affordable Care Act and why it shows that Democrats are more attuned to the interests of small businesses than the other guys.

Finally, after all of the misinformation, disinformation and distortions about the Affordable Care Act, a Louisiana business owner has stepped forward to set the record straight!
We need your help to get the word out to other Louisiana small business owners that, thanks to Democrats, the Affordable Care Act can do good things for their business -- just like it has done for Susan Davis and her Grandmother's Buttons.
