Thank You to Grand Dominion Residents
Thank you to the Grand Dominion Community for hosting their annual car show which benefits the Fremont Township Food Pantry.  Thank you to our businesses who donated to the event, all of the car owners who brought their cars, and the volunteers and public for making the event such a success.  The car show was great, the weather was perfect and a good time was had by all.  Bob Giles delivered the cash, check and gift card donations totaling $4500 to our office.  All food and donations will go directly to families in need in Fremont Township.

Cob Building 101 - Volunteers Needed

Monday, Aug 29th 5-7pm
Tuesday, Aug 30th 5-7pm
Location: Fremont Township Community Garden

This summer, a group of volunteers has been busy building the framework for a unique playhouse in the Fremont Community Garden!

The 8x8 structure is built from cedar by Wauconda resident, Mark Knigge.  The floor and walls are made by garden volunteers Charlotte and Alicia from urbanite, which is a fancy name for recycled concrete. The remainder of the walls will be filled in with cob, a material made from mixing clay, sand and straw.

This Monday, Aug 29th, from 5-7pm, and Tuesday, Aug 30th from 5-7 pm, the Fremont Township Garden will be hosting a Cob Making Class led by Pete Poli.  Pete will teach us about the materials and the process of mixing and building with cob.  Class is free, although donations are appreciated as a thank you for Pete sharing his time and expertise with us!

We will take the knowledge gained from the classes and have cob making sessions throughout the fall!  This is a fun activity for people of all ages and would be a great team building idea for community groups for adults and kids. Contact Alicia at 847-757-6249 or adodd67@comcast.net to be a part of this building process!
