New Lost and Found Pet Service at Animal Control
|
The Lake County Health Department Animal Control now maintains a Lost and Found Pet Service to help reunite lost pets with their owners. Click here to see photos submitted by residents who have recently lost pets and photos submitted by residents who have recently found pets and want to return them to their owners. If you are the owner of a pet shown or have found one of the pets pictured please contact Animal Care and Control at: 847.377.4700. Please note that none of the pets shown are currently housed at Animal Care and Control.

Click here to find out what is on your ballot and where you vote. Vote by mail ballots will begin being mailed on March 13. In person Early Voting for the April 7 election begins March 23 - April 4. If you live in Fremont Township, your early voting location is the Fremont Library. You can vote early Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm and on
Saturday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Election Day is April 7.
Where do I see the candidates? Mundelein High School AP Government students will be hosting a candidate forum for Mundelein Village Trustee Candidates on March 31st in the MHS Theater at 7pm. Open to the public.
I am unaware of any other public forums.

Another Opportunity to Register to Vote

If you are kicking yourself because you didn't register to vote in time for the April 7 election, or didn't change your address, grace period voter registration is available from March 11 to April 4 at the Lake County Clerk's Office in Waukegan and beginning March 23 at the Lake County Central Permit Facility in Libertyville. A voter who registers or changes address during this grace period must vote at the time of registration. Grace period registration hours for both locations are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and Saturdays, March 28 and April 4 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Questions? Call 847 377-2410. |
Senior Citizen's can see the Musical Shrek Free |
If you are a senior citizen who resides in the Mundelein High School District, you are cordially invited to participate in the very successful Super Seniors Activities program. Super Seniors attend dinner events, school plays, music concerts, and art shows. Several times throughout the school year you will have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary dinner served by MHS students and to attend an MHS activity. Reservations are made by calling 847-949-2200 ext. 1266 and leaving the name, address and phone number of each senior citizen who is attending. You may only sign up for one event at a time and you must reserve no later than one week prior to the event. They start taking reservations approximately four weeks before each event. The final event this year is on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Dinner is at 6 p.m. in the Cafeteria followed by the Spring musical, "Shrek". The AP Art Show will also be in the Cafeteria.
Please note that you must reside in the Mundelein High School District #120 to attend. |
Coffee with Mundelein High School Superintendent

During the next three months, Dr. Kevin Myers, Mundelein High School superintendent, will be available to share coffee and conversation with members of the District 120 community. Residents are invited to stop by and speak with the Mundelein High School leader and share thoughts, ideas and a cup of coffee. The dates and locations will be: Wednesday, March 11, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Omega Restaurant in Mundelein; Thursday, April 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the superintendent's office at MHS; and Wednesday, May 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at McDonald's at Route 83 and Midlothian. |

A-May-Zing Mundelein Volunteers Needed
|
The Village of Mundelein and the Mundelein Police Department are once again co-sponsoring A-May-Zing Mundelein's Annual Day of Caring. The event will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015. This annual volunteer spring clean-up event is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The event was launched as Project CAPE (Create- A-Positive-Environment) and evolved into "A-May-Zing Mundelein. There is a great need for volunteers this year. The event will kick off at the Mundelein Police Department with registration and continental breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Volunteers should plan to work through late morning or early afternoon. Any residents, organizations or businesses that wish to volunteer or donate supplies are asked to please call Jenni House at the Mundelein Police Department at 847-968-3770. Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze
Homestead Exemption Outreach Sessions
The Chief County Assessment Office and the Lake County Township Assessors Association will hold several public outreach sessions to assist residents in completing the 2015 Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Application for taxes payablein 2016; as well as service taxpayer needs on other homestead exemptions offered. Residents will work oneon one with a staff member to complete the necessary exemption forms.
Qualifications are:
65 years old or older during the tax year
Own the property as your principal residence for the last two Jan. 1(2014 and 2015)
2014 total household income is $55,000 or less
Be prepared to bring copies of income received such as:
2014 Federal Income Tax Form Social Security Statement(SSA-1099)
If the property is owned in Trust, you may need to provide proof of the beneficiary.

Used Book Sale at Fremont Public Library, 1170 N Midlothian, Mundelein
The Friends of Fremont Public Library invite you to the Used Book Sale on Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday, March 15, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Mundelein High School Music Department will host its annual
Mundelein Invitational drawing 40 jazz bands and show choirs from four states on Saturday, March 14, from 8 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. The public may attend the events and ticket prices will vary depending on how many events they attend.

The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is hosting an open house/public meeting on March 18 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Fremont Intermediate School to begin the process of studying potential improvements to the intersection of Fremont Center Road and IL Route 60 as well as the area bounded by Peterson Road, IL Route 60, and IL Route 83 in the Village of Grayslake, the Village of Mundelein, and Fremont Township.
Free AARP tax preparation at the Fremont Library for seniors and those with low incomes. Registration is required. Call 847-918-3225 to schedule an appointment.
On Saturday March 21, 10 AM to 4 PM and on Sunday March 22, 1 to 4 PM,
the Fremont Public Library in Mundelein and the North Central O Gauge Model Railroaders are presenting a circus weekend. Nine members of the Circus Model Builders Of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, will exhibit scale model replicas of circus wagons, trains, trucks and circuses. They will show you what a circus looked like when horses pulled the wagons and how much detail went into building the wagons that hauled the circus from one town to the next.
The North Central O Gaugers will be running model circus and carnival trains on their layout. A special guest will be Thomas and all of his friends. Come and see Thomas and his friends, James, Percy and Diesel. The kids can actually run Thomas on the tracks and become honorarily engineers. If you enjoy building with Lego blocks come and see actual running Lego trains.
All of this is free and fun, learn about the circus and how it lived many years ago
The KIrk Players will present Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersy Lily March 27th and 28th at 7:30pm, March 28th and 29th at 2:00pm at the Mundelein High School Auditorium, 1350 W. Hawley Street, Mundelein,

The Fremont Township Annual Town Meeting is Tuesday, April 14 at 7 pm in the lower level of the Administrative Office.
AARP and Fremont Township will be hosting a defensive driving class for drivers 55 and older which will be held on Thursday May 14 and Friday May 15, 2015 from 9 am to 1 pm. You must attend both classes. Please call 847 223-2847 to register. Class size is limited to 25. Cost is $15.00 if you are an AARP member. $20.00 for non-AARP member. |

Recycling and Paper Shredding Information

Unfortunately there are no electronic recycling events scheduled this year due to the cost. There are currently six drop off locations. Click here to find the most convenient location to you.
State Rep Ed Sullivan is sponsoring a paper shredding only event on May 16 at the Fremont Township Administrative Office.
Where do you recycle textiles that are too worn to donate? Click here
If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, please consider bringing them to Fremont Township at 22385 Rt 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters and Rescues. Please drop them in the bin on the front porch. This keeps them out of the landfill and puts them to good use.
We also accept eye glasses and shoes to be recycled year round. If you are disposing of shoes that have laces, please tie the laces together.
