Study Shows Less Corruption in
City Manager Systems

Local governments led by city managers are 57% less likely to have corruption, according to a study published in the last issue of Public Administration Review (July/August). The study, by Kimberly L. Nelson and Whitney B. Afonso of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, proclaims to be the first exhaustive study of corruption and connections to different forms of government.

National Preparedness Month is an opportunity for local leaders and residents to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools, and communities. This year's theme, "Prepared, Not Scared," focuses on saving for disasters, making a plan with family and loved ones, teaching youth to prepare for disasters, and getting involved in your community's preparedness.
