Los Angeles County Health Department Reinstates Mask Mandate for
Vaccinated Employees
(COVID-19 Update)
During today’s virtual briefing with reporters, the County of Los Angeles Health Officer announced that the County will require masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, starting at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 17th. This sudden reversal is in reaction to a steep increase in COVID-19 cases in the County within the last few weeks. Fully vaccinated persons have been permitted to not wear masks indoors since June 15th.

While specifics of the new mask mandate will not be released until later this week, the Health Officer indicated that the new mask order will mirror the one that was in place prior to June 15th. In other words, all employees in the County of Los Angeles, regardless of vaccination status, will need to wear a mask while indoors.

The Cal/OSHA regulations which we reported on recently allow local health departments to respond to COVID-19 outbreaks with more rigorous requirements. The Los Angeles County Health Officer is doing so with this updated mask mandate.

We will continue to monitor major COVID-19 related developments that impact the workplace. If you have any questions about the matters discussed in this issue of Compliance Matters, please call your firm contact at 818-508-3700 or visit us online at www.brgslaw.com.
