Memorial Day


In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the City of Los Alamitos Offices are closed on Monday, May 27, 2024. Except for Police Services. Regular office hours will resume Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 7:30 am.


Street Sweeping & Trash Collection will NOT be impacted due to the holiday.

Pickleball Time


It’s always a fun morning when pickleball is involved! Add drop-in pickleball to your schedule with the City of Los Alamitos and join us for an incredible time. The next drop-in session will be on Thursday, June 6, at Laurel Park from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The drop-in price is $5 per person (cash only). Participants must be 18 years and older. Invite your friends and family; all are welcome!

Summer Parks Program


It’s almost time to have fun in the sun with the City of Los Alamitos Summer Parks Program. This is a completely FREE drop-in program for youth ages 5-12, beginning Monday, June 10! During the summer, they will participate in games, arts & crafts, and optional excursions! The program occurs at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Ave) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and at Orville Lewis Jr. Park (3662 Kempton Drive) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No pre-registration is required. Simply show up to the park site to fill out an emergency form, and you’ll be set for summer fun.

Summer Concerts


The City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department is holding its annual Summer Concert Series on Thursday nights beginning June 13, 2024. The Summer Concert Series, presented by the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Commission, is a series of free outdoor events that provide opportunities for families to come together and enjoy live music and food. All concerts will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with free summer giveaway items offered at the Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services info booth. Visit the Beverage Garden, with proceeds benefitting the Los Alamitos Community Foundation, which exists to provide funding to enhance programs and services offered through the City to benefit the residents of Los Alamitos.


The first set of four concerts will take place on Pine Street and are called “Concerts on Pine Street.” These four concerts will be on Thursdays, June 13, June 20, June 27, and July 11. The Concerts on Pine Street will have vendor booths, moon bounces, lawn games, and food booths. The second set of four concerts, called “Concerts in the Park,” will alternate between sites at Little Cottonwood Park and Orville R. Lewis Park, sponsored by Community Sponsor Randy W. Hill. These concerts will occur on Thursdays, July 18, July 25, August 1, and August 8. The Concerts in the Park will also have vendor booths and food booths. Enjoy some evening fun with the Summer Concert Series!

Parent & Me T-Ball and

Jr. Pee Wee Baseball


If you're looking to swing for the stars this summer, we've got you covered! Join us for Parent & Me T-Ball and Jr. Pee Wee Baseball led by Recreation Staff. Get your little one started in America's favorite pastime. In these five-week programs, your little ones will learn the fundamentals of catching, hitting, and running the bases! Both programs occur at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Ave, Los Alamitos, CA). Let's hit home runs this summer!


Parent & Me T-Ball (2-3yrs old):

Saturdays: June 15 - July 13

*Parent Participation Required

10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Resident: $65 / Non-resident: $70

 

Jr. Pee Wee Baseball (4-7yrs old):

Mini Superstars


Not sure what sport your child is into? Give your little one a variety of sports fun with Mini Superstars. A five-week program at Little Cottonwood Park, Mini Superstars will cover basketball, football, and soccer for your little one. Parent Participation is required for this program as Recreation Staff take you and your little one through skill-based drills and games for each sport.

The City of Los Alamitos has partnered with the Long Beach Table Tennis Club! 

Join us for drop-in play year-round on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at the Oak Middle School Gym (10821 Oak St.). Whether it is your first time playing or you are a seasoned pro, this program is an excellent opportunity to increase your skillset through friendly and fun competition.


In addition to drop-in play, league play is seasonal. League play consists of grouped competition based on skill level. Participants can improve their skill rating as the league progresses. The top four finalists from each division in the league will compete in a playoff.

Parklet Series

Party on Pine! Back by popular demand, Pine Street (between Florista Street and Katella Avenue) will close to traffic as families, residents, and businesses are all invited to “Reimagine” Pine Street and participate in the fun! Through a series of consecutive Thursdays, the community can sing, dance, play, and enjoy each night as they listen to live bands, socialize and support the Los Alamitos Community Foundation’s Beverage Garden, dine from select local restaurants, and have the kids enjoy inflatables and much more!

The City is looking for a volunteer looking to help the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Commission! There is one unexpired term position available and applications will be accepted until the seat is filled. Requirements include being at least 18 years old, a registered voter in Los Alamitos, and a passion for service.
