Match Play began last month and most of our membership has already joined in the fun.  When you play somebody, the winner will gain points and the loser will lose points.  Its exactly how a sanctioned tournament works and its exactly how our match play will work.  We will use the chart below to calculate Seward Park ratings and rankings.  For starters, if you have a USATT rating; we will use it.  If your rating is out of date, our committee may 'adjust' it to make it current.   Check out our Seward Park club's ratings and rankings posted on the wall each saturday and then sign up to challenge any player rated ABOVE you!   If you can't wait to see the standings, click here to see Seward ratings on our Facebook page.  Seward has 24 players rated 1800 or better!  Need some humility in your game?  Come challenge one of them and they will be glad to oblige you.

Last week, we used our club ratings to host our first club handicap tournament - 21 players participated!  A handicap event essentially levels the playing field in a one-game match to 51 points.  For example, when a novice player competes against a highly skilled play, the novice is spotted a headstart of say 35 points in one game to 51.   Needless to say, our group of highly competitve individuals thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  100% of the pot was paid to the top 3 winners.  Chad Cumby won the event and $50.  Kyle Hess took 2nd place and $30 while Dominic Pereby edged out Xing Xiong for 3rd place and $20.

Our club at Washington has about half as many players (32) as Seward (75) right now, but it has twice the room!   Need room for your big game?  Come join us on Sundays (noon to 5) and Mon/Wed/Fri (11 to 2).   We are also tentaively planning a non-sanctioned tournament as well as a free training camp in January.  If you are interested in participating or helping then contact Loopkill.
