Friends,

I hope these tail days of summer find you well rested. Many of us are packing the kiddos off to school. If you have a college age child, please nudge them to request an absentee ballot now if they will be out of town on November 5th. Doing it early is one less thing to remember later.

Looking out for our children

When I first ran for office, I promised to look out for our district’s children, and to fight for state grants for needed school reconstruction projects. In the last two years, I have:

  • Secured state reimbursement of $51.6 million for the renovation of the Roxbury Elementary School and nearly $20 million for the reconstruction of Central Middle School;

  • Voted for historic investments in K-12 education--the second largest in state history--to reverse pandemic learning loss, hire teachers, add programming, and address students’ mental health needs;

  • Co-sponsored a bill, now law, enhancing access to vital mental, physical, and emotional health services for children;

  • Championed a successful bill that allocated federal rescue plan funds to provide free school lunches for all CT public school students through June 2025, recognizing the importance of nutrition for both cognitive development and academic performance;

  • Supported bills reallocating funds to early education and establishing a business incubator program in the sector.

I am a proud parent of four students who came through both the Greenwich public school system and private school education. Our schools give us much to be proud of. WalletHub ranked CT #2 in the nation for the quality of our public schools. But more must be done, especially in the areas of expanding affordable access to childcare, and improving the school-to-work transition. I look forward to further progress in these areas if re-elected.

Good luck with back to school!

All my best,
