CRC News | January 17, 2019
Dear CRC Supporter,

As I reflect on all we accomplished in 2018, and as I look forward to 2019, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude because of you.  CRC’s supporters, donors and volunteers are not only our heart, but also the hands and feet who provide hope to our at-risk and vulnerable neighbors.

In 2018, with your help, we accomplished the following:

  • 150 people escaped violence, finding safety in our domestic violence shelter, receiving help and counseling to get back on their feet.
  • 1,680 households received healthy food and nutrition resources in our Food & Nutrition Center.
  • 138 formerly homeless individuals found safe housing.

I’m proud to be part of the CRC community, and to serve with people who positively impact the lives of our community members every day.

2019 marks several important legacies for CRC:

  • 40 years of Community Resource Center's service in the community
  • 25 years of domestic violence prevention and intervention programs
  • 15 years of providing shelter at Carol’s House

As we celebrate 40 years of CRC this year, I hope you will continue to help us create paths to safety, stability and self-sufficiency in 2019 and beyond.

Sincerely,

John Van Cleef
Executive Director
Volunteer Legacy: Rory Powell
Rory Powell was a friend, wife, mother, daughter, sister, artist, philanthropist and an active volunteer for Community Resource Center. Rory battled cancer for over two decades and sadly passed away in 2007. Rory was a strong advocate for providing a better life for those less fortunate, in particular for teenage girls. For the past 12 years, the Friends of Rory have carried on Rory's legacy of compassion by putting together gift bags for teen girls in need at Holiday Baskets.

The Friends of Rory are a beautiful reminder of how a life of service can continue on. Thank you Rory and thank you to those who continue to provide hope to others in her memory!

January is National Stalking Awareness Month
Stalking impacts 1 in 6 women and 1 in 17 men. Though millions of women and men are stalked every year in the United States with a frequent co-occurrence of domestic violence the crime of stalking is often misunderstood, minimized and/or ignored.  We all have a role to play in identifying stalking and supporting victims and survivors. Learn more about stalking and get resources at the link below.
Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
We are currently looking for volunteers for the following opportunities:

  • Become a CRC Ambassador: Our next Ambassador Training is Friday, February 22nd at 3:00 pm. CRC Ambassadors represent CRC in the community at resource fairs, schools and other events. They get opportunities to take on leadership roles for our special events and spearhead fundraising efforts.

  • Help make our Integrative Services Office shine by organizing and cleaning on Wednesdays

If you are interested in these opportunities, please contact Sara Rosenbaum at srosenbaum@crcncc.org .
