Northwest Christian Church Making an Impact

Northwest Christian Church of Arlington (Disciples of Christ) has given Arlington Charities a check for $65,000. Established in 1958, sadly they have closed their doors in 2024. However as a last gesture of community support they have donated the proceeds of their property liquidation to organizations they have supported over the years. As a long time partner to AC we are so grateful they thought of supporting our work not only with ongoing volunteerism, but also with this significant gift. We cannot thank you enough!

Summer Read & Feed sponsored by Atmos Energy

Our summer reading program for ages pre-K thru 8th graders is underway!

Generously supported by Atmos Energy, this summer doesn't have to be a "slump" for young readers in our community.

Each family who signs up for a Read & Feed appointment receives new books and a bag of healthy snacks for each child, with their supplemental grocery service.

Thank you, Bay 34th Street Diner!

Bay 34th Street Diner (Suite 100, 3330 Matlock Rd.) raised much needed funds for Arlington Charities during their "Restaurant Giveback Day" on May 10. The next time you're in Bay 34th Street Diner, say thank you for helping our community in need.

Stamp Out Hunger Success!

Above, volunteer Cal Kost sorts and packs shel-stable food for distribution.

Letter carriers in our service area collected nearly 8,000 pounds of food for our clients on Stamp Out Hunger Day, May 11!

We received a truckload of shelf-stable food items on May 14 and sorted them by food group to distribute immediately. By the time you read this, we will have distributed almost all of it.

Stamp Out Hunger has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive. https://www.nalc.org/community-service/food-drive

Thank you to the National Association of Letter Carriers and our neighbors -- for giving to end food insecurity.

Summer hunger can have some real, long-lasting effects. Research shows that food insecurity can cause physical and mental health problems and lead to poor educational performance when school begins again.
