Good morning,
It has been some time since you have heard any updates about the possible Christian school we discussed late last fall. We are excited to announce that the dream is now becoming a reality! Our goal is to give at least monthly updates moving forward. So here is our first update with some of the key details about the school:
What will the name of the school be?
The name of the school is Harvest Christian Academy. We selected the word harvest because of its biblical meaning and because it represents our area's agricultural landscape. The Bible teaches the harvest principle that the seeds you plant in life, or what you do now, will directly impact the type of person you eventually become.
When applying this principle to education, the type of education our children receive will radically impact the type of people they will become for the Lord, their families, and their communities. With that in mind, HCA will strive to plant the kinds of seeds in our students that will lead to a harvest of academic and Christlike fruit in their lives. HCA desires to positively impact the hearts, minds, and character of our students with a comprehensive and Christ-centered curriculum and learning environment.
What will the mission of HCA be?
Harvest Christian Academy exists to provide a high-quality, Biblically-based, and Christ-centered education that will enable students to build their lives on a Biblical worldview, encourage them to grow in their love for God and others, and equip them to become honorable citizens in their communities for the glory of God.
When will the school open?
Our projected opening date is August of 2025. Our goal is to be ready to enroll students at the beginning of 2025 to allow parents the time they need to plan for the 2025-2026 school year.
Where will the school be located?
We have leased a wing of the CORE building from Saint Joseph’s College. This is the newest building on campus that is near the fieldhouse. We will be sectioning off our entire wing with security doors and key-card access to ensure a safe learning environment for our staff and students. We are excited about this awesome central location and its convenience for our students’ families.
Who will operate the school?
This is a community endeavor and will present many opportunities for community involvement in the coming months. The school is currently being developed by a forming board consisting of Pam Davis, Brian Hannon, Ryan Hunsley, Shelly Hurley, Susan Mattocks, and Breanna Smith. We are pursuing other like-minded individuals from the community who can serve on the school board and share the responsibility of overseeing the ongoing development and operation of the school.
What grades will be offered?
We have not officially set the grade offering for year one yet. We plan to start with three classrooms of twenty students each for a total of sixty students. The grades we offer will largely depend on the community needs that will be determined through the feedback we receive from interested families in the coming months. We will send out future surveys to determine this but don't hesitate to reach out in the meantime to provide us with your feedback. We intend to add one grade per year, after year one, which would allow us to offer K-12 in year seven (2031-2032).
We are so thankful that you have taken the time to read this update and we can't wait to share more updates soon. Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you would like to have a conversation with us.
