We've watched the entire community shift gears and transition through these odd and unprecedented times. We saw businesses and individuals alike step up and band together while being apart. Hearts on windows. Support signs in front yards. Illumination nights to honor men and women. Meals ordered and delivered to essential workers. What we
saw
was a united effort to carry our community through a pandemic. And it is what we will continue to
see
each day forward that will narrate the conclusion of this chapter.
As the Elkhorn Chamber looks toward the future, we will continue to offer encouragement to all of our business partners leaning into new approaches. We will lift up their employees and the efforts being made on a daily basis. And we especially will show appreciation for the committed men and women who shop and support our local establishments. Our hope is to protect our unity and detract from areas of division.
A Facebook post rang true and it seemed appropriate to share as we continue to progress through this time of adaptation.
"As businesses start to reopen,
please understand they may have just survived
one of the hardest professional and personal challenges
they've ever faced. While they're excited to open,
the owners and employees are still stressed.
They're not through the woods yet.
Please don't go to these businesses and complain
about changes that were forced upon them due to lost revenue,
lost employees, new policies and protocols.
They don't have the same business they had 2 months ago.
They're doing everything they can to adapt to the situation.
But everything is different for them.
Be kind. Be compassionate. Have patience.
They're still trying to recover from battle number one
and their next battle of rebuilding has just begun."

will take time to discover and it will take teamwork to rebuild. With a focus on kindness, compassion and patience, we will persevere together. Thank you for everything you've done, and everything you'll continue to do lift up our community and support those around you.
Keep smiling, keep sanitizing and stay well!
