Simply stated, Direct Access is the opportunity for an individual to obtain Physical Therapy services without a physician's referral (or prescription). This places physical therapy as a first line of service profession (along with MD's, DO's, Chiropractors, Dentists...). This immediate access to a PT allows for the diagnosis and treatment of injury to occur efficiently and effectively with the result of a decreased length in the healing process.
