PA State Representative Amen Brown, Methodist Services’ President & CEO Anne Rice-Burgess and Senator Vincent Hughes Onsite at Methodist Services’ Recent RACP Check Presentation

Through a Commonwealth grant program administered by Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget, The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) supports state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs. Methodist Services is pleased to be one of scores of Pennsylvania organizations selected as a RACP grant recipient with two separate allocations totaling $1,200,000.

While maintaining its historical external appearance, Methodist Services’ Power House will be repurposed as a new Youth & Education Center. Significant exterior restoration and interior renovation will accommodate innovative, community-centered programs to encourage young people, especially girls, to seek the trades as a path to future employment. Methodist Services’ RACP improvements are part of a master plan of campus capital enhancements, designed to ensure that this 143-year-old agency continues to provide life enriching programs to children, adults and their families.

Specifically, Methodist’s RACP funds will support improvements to a 120-year-old Power House building including restoration of the building’s exterior and structure, improvements to the building’s mechanical and HVAC systems, plumbing, piping and fixtures, electrical MDP, wiring and fixtures, fire protection and emergency exit lighting, interior renovation, fit out and ADA improvements, site lighting, water drainage and paving. Stay tuned!

Thanks to you, our 2022 Fall Fundraiser was a stellar success! Leadership & Board marveled at how wonderful it was to finally reconnect with friends, stakeholders and supporters at Methodist Services’ first in-person event, since the Fall of 2019. Over 100 guests enjoyed oysters, specialty drinks and small plates, along with the soul-jazz sounds of Philly-based Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble. Another 60 supporters elected not to join the in-person festivities.

Farm staff from Methodist’s Heritage Farm assembled a rich array of harvest goods including garlic braid, figs, leafy greens, fresh herbs, honey, peppers, eggplants and calendula tea. Guests vied for popular raffle packages featuring Festive Waterfront Dining, Dandy Doylestown Day Trip, Spring Garden Scare, Lovely Longwood Gardens, South Philly in the Sky, Tailgate/Backyard Necessities.

Methodist Services’ Bridge House is a Transitional Housing Program, serving homeless individuals who are referred from shelter and whose goals are to exit to permanent housing within 12-18 months. Bridge House residents have suffered life traumas which have led to homelessness, due to domestic violence, financial catastrophe, debilitating mental illness and family estrangement.

Built in 1966, Bridge House resident single & double rooms, along with common areas, are in need of significant renovations: bedrooms "gutted," outdated, built-in furniture replaced, walls and closets rebuilt, new flooring, energy efficient lighting installed, as well as new furnishings and home goods purchased.

We invite you to consider rehabbing a Bridge House Room, today!

Last November 2021, Inglis Methodist Gardens (IMG) opened its doors for the first time to welcome formerly unhoused individuals and families, as well as people with disabilities to a new, inclusive community of 47 affordable, integrated, and supportive apartments, 23 of which are now fully accessible and technologically enhanced for greater independence.

Over 60 partners, funders & politicians celebrated this $16.8 million project, awarding funds through low-income housing tax credits from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), a leadership gift of $4 million from Aetna Better Health of PA, and a $700,000 investment from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.

One year-later, all IMG apartments are fully occupied with residents forging an organic community, accessing new supports and building rich lives. Help us enhance IMG residents’ everyday needs.
