Sending a big shout out to Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts for his generous $200,000 donation to install air conditioning in 10 Philly public schools. Happy that Edward Gideon Elementary School, a City of Philadelphia Designated Community School affiliated with Methodist Services, will benefit from this fabulous donation!

What an impact The Junior League of Philadelphia’s "Kids in the Kitchen" program has had on Methodist Services’ school age students: building nutritional literacy, engaging children in healthy eating habits, introducing students & their families to new foods & recipes!

Over 225 students & 21 instructors from Methodist Services’ Out-of-School-Time (OST) programs at Farrell School, Gompers School and Methodist’s Main Campus participated in this exciting 2024 Spring KITK series. Giving, generous & gracious! Thank you, Junior League of Philadelphia!

Methodist Services’ Community Partner, Penn Towne Chapter of The Links, planned & co-hosted “Empowerment thru Employment Job Fair.” Reps from the Dental Assistant Academy of The Union Centre Institute, Phlebotomy Training Program thru the Cultural Institute of Health & Education, Drexel University Dornsife Center Digital Training Program and The Murrell Dobbins Career & Tech H.S. Cosmetology Program introduced dozens of our program participants & residents to local work prospects, a Dress for Success Links’ Boutique clothing giveaway & raffle drawings. What a fun, productive morning! Inspiring, impactful & motivational! Big, big thanks to Penn Towne Chapter of The Links!

Board member Lee A. Rosengard, age 72, died unexpectedly on April 30, 2024.

Bill Hill, Chair of the Methodist Home for Children Board of Directors, remarked, “It is so sad to know that such a wonderful man is no longer with us. Lee provided a vital role, ensuring that Methodist emerged strong from the pandemic and transition of leadership. He was essential in guiding and supporting the overall goals of the agency and the Board of Directors. He was deeply devoted and loved his family and beautiful grandchildren, immensely. We are forever grateful for Lee’s service to the Methodist Home for Children Board.”

Katie Martin, President & CEO, Methodist Home for Children System, shared, “Lee was always there to ask the tough questions, supported by active listening and action, and investing in the mission of Methodist wholeheartedly. During my short time as President & CEO, it was always comforting to look out during Board meetings and see Lee thinking, responding and giving a big wink and smile when he was pleased with the outcomes of our goals. Lee will be greatly missed by the Board of Directors and the Executive Management team.”

In addition, Leadership and Board of Directors shared their deep sympathy for Lee’s family and collective fond memories of him: “Lee was an integral part of the Board and his wisdom, insight and guidance will be sorely missed. We will miss Lee’s legal mind and quick wit, but his many contributions will leave a lasting legacy for MHC. Lee was such an active participant on the Board, always displaying quick wit and asking probing questions. This is also a loss for the Methodist Services community. His family gave him such joy. We remember Lee sharing stories of how he and his wife were nursery school teachers to their grandchildren during the COVID crisis. He would have the biggest smile on his face as he talked about reading to his grandchildren during 'school hours.' Our prayers go out to his family at this sad time. A tremendous loss, a wonderful spirit and valued colleague, who will truly be missed.”

Lee spent his 41-year legal career at Philadelphia-based Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young, LLP, retiring as a litigation partner in December 2017. He taught Introduction to US Law and Legal Methods for the Penn Carey Law Master in Law Program for over ten years. He had decades of experience trying and settling cases, both as a litigator and as an ADR provider. He was an early proponent of ADR, and in the mid-1990’s established Stradley’s groundbreaking Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group, which he chaired. Lee was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer consecutively from 2004 to his Stradley retirement at the end of 2017. Lee received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an A.B. from Dartmouth College, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.

For over 20 years, he was a Board member of the Please Touch Museum, the Children’s Museum of Philadelphia, where he also served as Museum Counsel. He was a former Trustee of Congregation Rodeph Shalom and for 21 years was a faculty member in its Religious School. He was also an Eagle Scout.

Beloved husband of Andrea Kramer. Loving father of Rebecca Kramer Rosengard (Jennifer Robinson), Joanna Kramer Kowitt (Joshua), and Laura K.R. Thompson (Jeffrey). Dear brother of Steven Rosengard (Patty) and Peter Rosengard (Faye). Adoring “Grandpa” of 6 grandchildren. Donations in Lee's memory can be made to the Rodeph Shalom Education Endowment Fund.
