Redan Road Corridor Scoping Study

DeKalb County is identifying opportunities to transform the Redan Road corridor from a two-lane street to one that accommodates walking, biking, transit, cars and trucks with improved traffic operations and safety, that supports existing users, economic development, and the planned I-285 Express Lane access.

The purpose of the scoping study is to identify transportation infrastructure projects that meet community goals and objectives, and can be presented to state and regional partners for funding partnerships.

The study includes Redan Road from Kensington Road/Holcombe Road to South Hairston Road.

I-285 Express Lanes Transit Study

We are excited to announce the launch of the I-285 Express Lanes Transit study, a regional collaboration that explores how new express lanes along the I-285 corridor could be used to provide a premium transit service, enhancing connectivity and transportation options in the Atlanta region.

The study area extends along I-285 between the I-20 east and west interchanges, spanning from H.E. Holmes to Indian Creek MARTA stations. By leveraging the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)’s planned Express Lanes project, this study will explore ways to improve accessibility and on-time performance of transit for residents and commuters.

We value your input and invite you to participate in shaping the future of transportation in our region. Please visit our project website at i285ExpressLanesTransit.com to learn more about the study and complete a short survey. Your feedback will help us understand the needs and preferences of the community, guiding us in developing a transit service that best serves you.

ALERT: Five Points Station Transformation Update

The following statement was provided by MARTA.

While we continue to engage with Mayor Dickens on the Five Points Transformation Project, we are pausing the immediate implementation of service impacts. Eight downtown bus routes that were scheduled to relocate this Saturday, July 6, will remain stationed out of Five Points, and customer impacts scheduled for July 29 will be paused. As stated previously, design issues and decades of water intrusion have led to damage throughout the station, including to critical electric train control equipment, and the safety of our customers will continue to be our top priority. To hear more about the design flaws from the original architect and see the ongoing water intrusion and damage, click HERE.

MARTA remains steadfast in our belief that removal and replacement of the canopy is the best option, and one that was approved by our partners at the City of Atlanta. We pledge to continue working with the Mayor and other stakeholders to deliver these critical infrastructure and safety improvements, enhance the customer experience, and keep Atlanta moving forward as a world-class destination.

ALERT: MARTA East Lake Station

SEE improved accessibility and safety at East Lake Station as MARTA replaces the north pedestrian bridge.

The north pedestrian bridge and north parking lot at East Lake Station will be CLOSED from March 15 to October 2024 for construction. Customers must use the south parking lot and south pedestrian bridge. Station Soccer will remain open.
