Sterling Recreation Center

The City of Sterling established a need for a Recreation Center for the Youth and Adults of Logan County and the surrounding areas by building the Sterling Recreation Center in 1983. The Sterling Recreation Center is owned by the City of Sterling.
Sterling Recreation Center has gone through many stages in its 41 years. From a lounge area upstairs with vending machines, pool tables, and ping pong tables, to moving the work-out area upstairs to create a party room downstairs, now on the pool deck. The pool surface was redone in 2013, along with the pool deck surface. The Frank Walsh Family was gracious enough to fund the addition of the outdoor pool in 2006. The owners of the pool have remained the same since inception, but there have been several Directors and Superintendents through the years running the building. The Recreation center offers a wide variety of things to do. The indoor pool houses lap swimming, water walking, water aerobics, open swimming, a baby pool area, and an 11ft. deep end that has a diving board for extra fun. The facility also runs swimming lessons during the school year in the evenings. The Outdoor pool offers a zero-entry area, with 4 slides, and a separate baby pool. Inside the Recreation Center they have 3 separate work-out areas that offer weight machines (Upstairs), Plyometrics and stretching (Court 1), and Cardio room (back of the building). They have 3 courts that can be used for several activities from Wallyball, Pickleball, Racquetball, Basketball, Dodgeball, indoor soccer and parties.
Sterling Recreation Center is also home to the Recreation Sports Programs division. This division runs the City League Sports, which includes Adult/Youth Basketball, Adult/Youth Softball, Adult/Youth Volleyball, Dodgeball, Kickball, and Sand Volleyball. The Programs division also runs Fishing is Fun Derby, Helps with Bike to School days, end of Summer School field day, Parks and Recreation Month, among various programs.
