Ship restoration Much love is being poured out for the MARY A. WHALEN by volunteers who have come, despite tightened TWIC regulations in the port, to restore and spruce up the tanker for visiting media and prospective landlords.
Some of the work is in photos here and a video here.
Please donate now so we have more time to work this out.
Thanks to those who have already donated.
Your support means a lot!"

Challenges/Opportunities: Artifacts, Offices, Venues
Office space sought We seek a donated (or very cheap) storefront or office space for the month of April. Tightened Port Authority regs make it very hard for volunteers to get to us. More info on that all here

Artifacts for sale We have been told we have to vacate the storage areas in the shed on the pier next to the ship.
The silver lining here is that we can sell these maritime artifacts to support our cause. Anyone who can advise on the best way to sell these, please get in touch. The collection includes signs and crane plaques from demolished buildings and cranes in Todd Shipyard, ship plans, foundry molds, wood crates, calipers, an antique freight scale, nautical collectibles.
Can you help with the following?
- A large boat for a fundraising cruise? That's the only way to show many people the MARY A. WHALEN.
- Venue(s) for the concert, cheese tasting, children's event, art exhibit material that has been offered to us? More about those here. Note: Naima Raum has joined the roster of donors!

Dear Dockmasters,
The EDC has issued an RFP for a dockmaster to run many piers in the EDC portfolio. To respondents of the RFP, PortSide would be interested in joining your RFP response. We have a major attraction in the MARY A. WHALEN and experience planning for visiting vessels, be they historic boat or tugboats. We have an extensive rolodex of what floats in this harbor and what wants to visit this harbor. |
