Let's Wrap the Tree!
Yarn Bombing Group
Some of the wonderful folks that helped us wrap the tree last time.
Many of you may remember the tree in front of the shop had a sweater! We promised the landlord we'd pull it down when it got dirty and we did. We were all ready to re-wrap it, got squares donated from many of you, then Covid hit. As you might imagine, we've been distracted for the last two years.

It's time to get the tree wrapped!

From Wednesday April 20 to Monday April 25, stop in the shop and help us seam squares together! We'd also love to know if you're planning on coming in to help, so please let us know!

On Wednesday April 27 at 11AM, come join us to help wrap the tree!
Local yarn Store Day is coming!
We love Local Yarn Store Day, and we're so grateful for all your support for local brick and mortar yarn shops.

We'll have special products and some specials you don't want to miss. And, it doesn't matter if you're in town or across the country, join us for a couple of days of fun!

We have some great things planned for you in store as well as on line, so stay tuned, and get ready for one of the major events of the year!
Conarroe Crochet Lace Class - Last Chance!
Join us ON-LINE, Saturday April 23 from 9AM to Noon for this fun, informative crochet class! As always, the class will be recorded so if you miss it, you can view it after the fact.

In this class you'll learn:

  • working a crochet lace pattern;
  • using a pattern repeat;
  • modifying size of pattern;
  • seaming methods

The yarn comes with the class in your choice of colors at a wonderful discount.
New from Noro!
Noro is unique among yarn companies as they dye the fibers before they are spun into yarn. It's one of the least processed, most natural yarn companies around and this process explains why their colors are so rich and saturated. This process also means colors tend to be discontinued with some regularity. This means if you like the color, grab it today because it may not be around next time!

We have two new yarns we're already getting calls about as they're featured in the latest Noro magazine Issue 20. We're waiting for the very first shipment to arrive but we want you to be able to have the first notice that it's here, so we created a Noro News list, for you fans of all things Noro.
The nature of the Noro process means we aren't taking pre-orders as we don't want you to be disappointed if we're unable to supply you with the colors you choose. We are showing the yarn on our web site so you can make your decision before you order.

Those on the list will be the first to know when the yarn arrives!
Noro Yukata
Yukata from Noro is a Silk/Wool/Polyamide Sport Weight yarn with approximately 787 yards per 200 gram ball!

It's soft and vibrant as only Noro can do. Perfect for shawls, wraps, or light garments.
Noro Uchiwa
Uchiwa from Noro is a Cotton/Silk/Viscose blend with approximately 547 yards of worsted weight yarn per 200 gram ball!

This is a great yarn for so many projects, and since it works up as a worsted (a number 4 in the yarn standards guide) there are so many patterns you can apply it to. As it's also wool free and is a cotton/Silk blend, it's a great choice for warm weather projects.
Noro Magazine Issue 20
Noro Magazine 20 features a wide variety of wonderful designs featured the latest Noro yarns as well as some old favorites!
Yes, it can be frustrating when a yarn isn't yet available when it's being promoted in a publication. The reason this happens is the different lead times required for producing yarn in production quantity and for producing designs based on those yarns. It's a juggling act all yarn companies deal with and with the global pandemic it's made it even more of a challenge. We appreciate your patience and understanding as do our vendor partners!

Help us fight Alzheimer's
We're joining the fight against Alzheimer's. We do have a fundraising team set up, but our main goal is to create blankets for use in memory care units and other facilities where they'll be used and loved.

If you'd like to lend a hand, we need folks to knit or crochet 12" x 12" squares which will then be turned into blankets. Use any machine washable yarn in the color purple and send them to us at:
Ball & Skein
attn: Blankets
4210 Bridge St STE 6
Cambria, CA 93428

We would like the squares by Wednesday, June 1. We'll meet at the shop on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5 to assemble the blankets! If you'd like to help, please let us know!
