Dear Lancaster Community,

As the days grow longer and the weather gets warmer, I am delighted to be spending time in our beautiful City. There is a vibrant energy in the air calling us to explore all that our community has to offer. From enjoying the live entertainment at LPAC or taking a stroll at The BLVD Market, I hope you all find a moment to participate in the fun happenings going on in Lancaster this week. As we embrace the arrival of May, I wish everyone a month full of promise, growth, and wonderful times spent with family and friends.

Keeping Lancaster Clean!
Have you ever wondered how our roadsides stay clean? It’s all thanks to volunteers in the City's TIDE-Y Up and Mile program! ⁠

The program fulfills the City's mission of creating a better tomorrow by inviting members of the community to rally together and clean up litter, tumbleweeds, bulky items, and other trash that ends up on our roadsides. ⁠

Volunteers make a huge difference in what the City's Public Works teams can accomplish and we would love your help! Participants ages 11 and up, businesses, public agencies, and organizations are invited to participate.⁠

Drug Abuse Prevention!
Prescription drug abuse is a serious problem across the nation, and it often starts with easily accessible drugs in the home. Always safely dispose of any unused or expired medications to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands or being disposed of improperly. By safely disposing of these medications, we can help prevent addiction and keep our communities safe.⁠

Freeway Closures.
Lane closures are scheduled on SR-14 between Lancaster and Palmdale for pavement replacement and shoulder work. Up to three lanes will be closed, so plan your commute accordingly.

Closures:

  • Monday, April 29 to Saturday, May 3: Nightly closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (full freeway closure) Southbound SR-14 Avenue K – Technology Drive; Northbound SR-14 Technology Drive – Avenue K

  • Now to Early December 2024: Southbound SR-14 Crossover from Avenue A to Avenue H. 

Expect traffic delays. Stay updated with real-time traffic info at quickmap.dot.ca.gov/.
