The International Remote Viewing Association

The IRVA was founded in 1999 and its first conference took place in that year.

'Remote Viewing is a novel perceptual discipline for gaining information not available to the ordinary physical senses. Used extensively by so-called “psychic spies” during the Cold War for classified military projects, it has a long history both as an intelligence gathering tool and as the subject of research and applications in the civilian world.' (Website at www.irva.com)

There is a periodic journal - 'Aperture' - back copies of which can be purchased, which is probably the leading publication in its field. Issue 35 celebrated 50 years of formal remote viewing.

It is something all people can do to a certain extent. For example, we can all 'picture' where we live or where we work.

The website provides extensive background info on the organisation, and associate membership costs 45$ a year. This includes...

  • FOCAL POINT target practice group
  • Private Remote Viewing forum
  • CIA’s Remote Viewing Archives and companion guide
  • Streaming video from past IRVA Remote Viewing Conferences (except the past three published conferences)
  • 10% discount on IRVA Conference registration
  • Access to IRVA Research Unit (IRU) Creative Team meetings and IRVA virtual education programs

Though Remote Viewing had its origin in the secret world, there may be benefits in it for folk searching, for example, for water, or lost objects and missing people.

Scientific and Medical Network.

Scientists & Mystics Conference 2023. (Zoom April 14th - 16th)

I have mentioned the SMN previously, as they seem to be a very academic consortium, who are seeking to bridge the spiritual/scientific divide from ‘the other side’.

They recently ran a weekend of zoom talks about sound healing, entitled Mystics and Scientists, which could be of great interest to at least some dowsers. See...

You didn't have to a member of the SMN to join this conference.

Extract from Wiltshire Dowsers Newsletter - April 2023 . Report on

recent meeting

Monday March 20th Speaker: Ron Dudley-Smith.

‘The Rollright Stones and the Bosnian Pyramids’.

Peter welcomed Ron, who is a Trustee of the Rollright Trust and has many years of experience under his belt in dowsing countless sites around Europe. Ron started by saying how he knew Denis Wheatley (Wiltshire Dowsers founder), who had told Ron that he was a ‘natural dowser’.

Ron also commented on past work he had done with Sig Lonegren and Hamish Miller. He then gave some anecdotes of teaching people dowsing over the years, including a woman from USA who literally burst into tears when her dowsing rods swung for the first time.

Ron gave us a condensed history and layout of the Rollright Stones, to which, as a trustee, he has a close affinity. He gave us an explanation of the main elements of the area with a map, and confirmed how the sites are encompassed by the energy currents of the Belinus Line - the long distance alignment that runs from the Isle of Wight up through the Midlands, and north to Scotland.

He also told us that there are nine ‘Watchers of the Old Ways’, who hold the energy of the Rollrights, caring for the site, and ensuring the energies are not corrupted by inappropriate actions there. He also commented on how the stones ‘talk to each other’, communicating via energies and other vibrations. This had been first described by Tom Graves, who did some of the pioneering work on the stones many years ago.

Ron listed the various energies that could be detected at the Rollrights, including blind springs, telluric energies, auric bands and more! ‘It’s all about the question’, he confirmed. He also commented on the ‘Neolithic Echoes Project’ started in 1998. This has involved the installation of a seven-ring wooden labyrinth in the woods adjacent to the Whispering Knights dolmen. Members of the Wiltshire Dowsers walked this during their visit in July 2019.

Turning his attention beyond the Rollrights, Ron spoke of the ‘presence of place’, which seems to be concentrated on natural hotspots in the landscape, to be later enhanced by the building of circles, temples and churches upon these energetic ‘hotspots’.

He also noted the dowsable differences between the currents of the Michael and Mary line and the St Michael Line, as well as his work on detecting blind springs. He commented on how such energy nodes had determined the three different locations of the font inside Southwark Cathedral, over the years.

Ron’s next sharing was of how he once met and spent time with Raoni, a Columbian shaman from the Amazon. Raoni likened the energies we dowse to, ‘the heartbeat of the Earth’. Ron felt strong yet beautifully pure energies radiating from the shaman, who is involved in publicising a petition to ban the deforestation of the rainforest.

The remainder of Ron’s talk took us across Europe to the famous Bosnian Pyramids. In particular, he commented on his own personal visits inside the tunnels. He commented how ceramics dating to the 10th century AD had been excavated inside them. He showed various images with people inside the tunnels with him, which included moving orbs and other unexplained light phenomena, such as wisps of light. He also showed images of huge boulders in the tunnels, including those which were egg-shaped.

In one meditation he attended, held around a huge boulder 200 yards into a tunnel, the measured Bovis Units shot up to 40,000, compared to the normal ‘background’ measurement of 25,000. He also dowsed ‘negative ions’, those health-affirming energies usually associated with watery places. After a tour of large mysterious stone spheres scattered around the area, Ron concluded by sharing his thoughts, echoed by others, that the pyramids were basically natural pyramidal hills (like many other examples seen around Greece for example) but that they have been enhanced by major human effort. After answering some questions, attendees thanked Ron for what was an interesting and informative presentation.

Next Field Trip. Saturday 22nd April.

Ancient Oaks of Savernake Forest

A guided walk to some of the 1,000 year-old oaks, with dowsing, tree meditations, mindful walking, chants and gentle drumming. Led by Peter Knight and Sue Wallace.

This day is annually the ‘Sing to the Trees Day’, as well as the UN’s ‘Earth Day’. Meet at 1.00pm outside the toilets at the popular and signposted Postern Hill car park, on the A346 Marlborough to Salisbury road.

Come up the hill on the A346 from Marlborough and the car park is on the left as the road levels out. Nearest post code is SN8 4ND (this is NOT the car park post code, which does not have one.

If coming by Sat Nav: you will turn left off the road just BEFORE you ‘reach your destination’).

Easy, level walking, of approx a mile and a half. There are toilets and a nearby picnic area (at far end of car park) should you wish to arrive early for a picnic. Sue and Pete plan to picnic at noon for those who wish to join them. Only £3 for Wiltshire Dowsers supporters. Others please enquire to Peter.
