SCAM ALERT!!!! PLEASE LET YOUR CONGREGATIONS KNOW THIS IS HAPPENING

One of our clergy has learned that several folks in his congregation have been contacted using his name. The person asks for the person to get gift cards for him to use for people in need. The request initially is for $300 and a subsequent phone call ups it to $500. The person knows the person’s home address. A person will come to the house to pick it up, or they are encouraged to take a picture of the gift card and text it back. The state troopers have taken on the case and are investigating. Perhaps a warning to other pastors of this type of scam might be a good idea.
