FREE Resource: Unhelpful Things Checklist
We all do it, reaching for the chocolate, that glass of wine or retail therapy. These behaviours are of course ok in moderation, but when we do too much of them they can start to backfire. We may put on weight, a glass soon becomes a bottle affecting our sleep, or spending too much leads to debt.
It can be really hard for us to notice these problems as they can develop slowly. The 'Unhelpful Things Checklist' can help you identify the things that feel better in the short term, but can mess us up in the long term. Once you've identified your unhelpful behaviours, use the Easy 4 Step Plan (E4SP) worksheet to help you cut down.
Are you feeling tired, tense or irritable? When we feel anxious, overwhelmed or under pressure it can have an impact on our bodies. Here are some tips if you feel like you're feeling stressed out emotionally and physically:
1. Exercise - a fantastic way to help release built up tension in our bodies caused by anxiety and stress. Exercise releases 'feel good' hormones and can reduce irritability. Test it out using our
Mood Scale worksheet, rating how you feel before and after 10 minutes worth of exercise. This can mean a range of things from a short walk, exercises in a chair (rotate your shoulders and ankles). Choose something that gets you going and fits with the time you've got available.
2. Tension Control Training - a relaxation method designed to enable people to gain control over anxiety. Relax your body and mind.
