DOI on Friday claims: Providers will be paid

In late June, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) placed Friday Health Insurance Company into rehabilitation and took control of the company. DOI took this action to protect consumers enrolled in a Friday health plan and to ensure that providers are paid pursuant to the contracts in place with Friday with the funds remaining in the company. Do you see patients with Friday insurance? DOI has prepared a set of frequently asked questions for you. Access it here.

The DOI has set up a special email address for health care providers to contact the DOI with questions and concerns about providing care to Friday members, claims submission, and claims payment. See more information in the FAQ about necessary information to include when contacting the DOI.

Newly adopted rules for FAMLI

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) recently published a new set of adopted rules. Sets of rules listed on the rules webpage cover program integrity; investigations, determinations and appeals; and job protection, anti-retaliation and anti-interference.

As a reminder, when FAMLI benefits become available in 2024, Colorado employees who utilize paid leave to tend to their own health or support a family member will be protected from retaliation from employers. In short, individuals cannot face punishment for using the benefits provided by the FAMLI program.

Questions about the rules? CDLE held a live webinar in June that is available for viewing on demand here.
