CMS webinar: The use of analytics in improving service

Physicians can earn up to 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™

From patient satisfaction surveys to Yelp reviews, many external factors affect how your practice attracts and maintains patients. The Colorado Medical Society’s next Virtual Grand Rounds webinar — The Use of Analytics in Improving Service — featuring retired obstetrician-gynecologist Dave Newhouse, MD, demonstrates how analyzing patient satisfaction scores can uncover bias from physician to patient and patient to physician, and ultimately enable you to improve outcomes. View the full accreditation statement on the event webpage. Open to all CMS members and practice staff.

Opportunities to help earthquake survivors in Turkey and Syria

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in parts of Turkey and Syria, the Colorado Medical Society is encouraging the medical community to support relief efforts to send needed medical supplies and services to the region. There are many opportunities for Colorado physicians and medical facilities to assist.

  • Volunteer, donate medical supplies, or make financial donations through Project C.U.R.E., www.projectcure.org.
  • Donate to Doctors Without Borders to assist their medical teams in treating patients and donating medical and survival supplies, www.doctorswithoutborders.org
  • Donate to another organization of your choosing; email suggestions to enews_editor@cms.org.

As of Feb. 15, the death toll in Turkey and Syria from the earthquake is 36,000 and rising with many tens of thousands more in need of immediate medical assistance. CMS is deeply saddened by this disaster and supports the many relief efforts to help millions of people in this region who face a long recovery and rebuilding period.

Reminder: 2022 MIPS hardship application deadline extended to March 3, 2023

Due to American Medical Association advocacy and outreach to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (federal CMS), the agency has extended the deadline to file a 2022 MIPS Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) hardship extension until March 3, 2023. The original deadline was Jan 3, 2023. If physicians feel they have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022 they may file a MIPS hardship exemption with the federal CMS to avoid a 2024 MIPS penalty. The AMA encourages practices to take advantage of this administrative relief; find more information and file your extension here.
