Senior Parade

One of the coolest things about being part of our Big Lake Community is the unique experiences you get to be part of! One of Liberty's favorite year-end traditions is when we honor our graduates with a Senior Parade. 12th-grade students are celebrated by walking through our Liberty halls and getting cheers from past teachers and students that look up to them! Congratulations Class of 2024!

Extravaganza Day was a BLAST!

The rain couldn't keep our Liberty School Family from having some well-deserved fun together! Classrooms got to play some creative games, enjoy a special treat, and have some other "extra" fun on this special day! Ask your child what their favorite part of the day was.

Yearbook Signing

Thanks to our spectacular PTO, many students got to enjoy a yearbook filled with tons of memories and pictures of their class family! We also got to sign each other's yearbooks and share our appreciation of each other! It is always so great making new friends!

Celebrating Our Learning

Early Childhood

May was field trip month in Early Childhood! Little Learner students went on their trip to the Wildlife Refuge Drive. Students hiked on two different trails and were lucky enough to see bald eagles, sandhill cranes, swans, and lots of fun insects! Ms.Casey's and Ms. Jalayne’s classes reached their goal of 100 hours outside while we were at the Refuge! Way to go!!!

ECFE ended their year with a family field trip to the Como Zoo. Some of us even got to see the Corpse Flower! A BIG thank you to the Early Childhood Parent Advisory Council for sponsoring our field trips this year!

Please join us for more fun this Summer! We have lots of fun things coming up!

  • Summer Explorers Preschool
  • ECFE in the Park
  • Family Nights at the Park
  • Generations Class at the Senior Center

Check them all out on the Big Lake Community Education Page!

Kindergarten

Kindergartners were busy celebrating the end of our year together with our ABC Celebration Days. We learned about taking care of the Earth, finished learning the rest of our 30 Tricky Words and even dipped our toes into subtraction. Most importantly, we spent time celebrating all of the growth and friendships that were made and had a special End of Year class family ceremony. Goodbyes are always hard, but we are so proud to send all of these FIRST GRADERS off on their next adventure!

1st Grade

First grade had a busy and exciting month of May! We enjoyed a fun-filled visit to the zoo, planted and watched our zinnias grow, and observed the fascinating life cycle of our butterflies before letting them go. As the school year comes to a close, we've spent the last week celebrating our wonderful classroom families, and cherishing our time together before saying our heartfelt "see you soons." Second grade, here we come!

2nd Grade

Second grade had a wonderful last month of school. We celebrated being together and explored what 3rd grade will be like. First graders joined us to play games, read, and learn about 2nd grade. As summer draws near, everyone is rejoicing with their classroom families and the memories we made. We are so excited for our next adventure at Independence Elementary STEM School!

Parenting Points

  1. Summer is almost here and you have likely been busy planning what you are going to sign your kids up for. With all the fun opportunities, please remember to take some time to slow down and enjoy each other as a family. Some of the best days are the unplanned ones. Every year in ECFE we come up with a Summer Fun List. Our families have lots of great ideas to share for stay-at-home and out-and-about days. We hope your Summer is filled with joyful memories, whatever you plan to do:)
  2. During the school year, students have had access to an app on their school-issued iPads called “IXL”. This is a platform where students practice math skills specific to their own needs and grade-level goals. Students are presented with questions involving counting, addition, subtraction, word problems, and developing number sense.  Your child will continue to have access to their IXL accounts during the summer months from any personal device. Students’ login information can be found on their “Tech Cards”.

Kindergarten Registration for the 24-25 School Year is OPEN!

Encourage any family with a future kindergartener to register today! We are well on our way to planning for next year, and knowing the amount of students we will have will allow us to best set them all up for success!
