Zion’s School Mission: “Teaching Christ and Serving Families.” The school shares Christ by teaching students about Christ and changes lives by serving the school families.
Our vision is that all students will experience God’s love and forgiveness and learn to show that same forgiveness to others. Students will be safe, responsible, and respectful to themselves and others, and achieve academically to the best of their ability.

‘For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

A Message from the Acting Principal

Zion Parents,

As we near the end of our school year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we've embarked upon together. The resilience, dedication, and unwavering spirit displayed by each member of our school community have been nothing short of inspiring.

When we reflect on the accomplishments and milestones achieved over the past months, let us also take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has contributed to our collective success. To our diligent students, supportive parents, and dedicated staff members, thank you for your unwavering commitment to excellence.

While we eagerly anticipate the well-deserved summer break, let us not forget the valuable lessons learned and the friendships forged during this academic year. Each experience has shaped us in unique ways, leaving an indelible mark on our journey of growth and discovery

We are celebrating the power of kindness this week. Whether making a good choice, giving a high five, telling someone that they are important, giving a compliment, or putting someone before yourself, even the smallest act of kindness has the potential to make a world of difference.

May we be inspired by the example of Jesus Christ, who embodied the essence of kindness in His words, His actions, and His sacrificial love. May His grace empower us to be instruments of His peace and vessels of His love, spreading kindness to the ends of the earth and beyond.

Have a blessed week!

Amy Jacobson

A Message from the Principal Call Committee

Dear Parents,

The Zion Principal Call Committee would like to provide an update on our progress to ensure we select the candidate God has chosen for our school ministry. As committee members, we understand that we are not acting on our behalf, but as representatives and servants of the entire congregation. We were chartered to do this work on behalf of the congregation, and have gone about this important business diligently, thoroughly, and confidently, seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance and using the gifts God has provided us to arrive at a God-pleasing recommendation. After being in earnest, consistent prayer, the call committee is pleased to announce that we are formally recommending Nichole Perez to the Board and our members to serve as our next Principal here at Zion Lutheran School Anaheim. A special congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, May 19 in between church services to discuss and vote on a call for Mrs. Nichole Perez.

Nichole Perez has served in Lutheran education for over 22 years and has served as a Principal for 9 of those years. She earned a BA in Mathematics and has a Masters in Educational Administration. Prior to becoming Principal, she held numerous leadership roles including Technology Coordinator, Department Chairperson, Director of Student Activities, and Director of Athletics. She loves Lutheran schools and everything it has to offer. She strives to cultivate a safe, welcoming, Jesus-centered school environment where everyone is supported to find their passion. With her Masters in Educational Administration and commitment to lifelong learning, we believe Mrs. Perez will lead the staff in building an academically robust program that will prepare our students for the next phase of their education. Her commitment to Christian ministry is evidenced in her response in her CMIF: God has called me to serve in Christian schools so that I cannot only share my love for education but also share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the children in my school. Being a principal is not just my job, but where I find joy. If I can impact one student by sharing the love of Jesus with them, then I have done what God has called me to do. Each day I strive to reach students by leading them with both words and actions. I am continually studying and reading about new teaching methods that I can use to help my teachers improve and in turn, help each student perform at their best.

We believe that Nichole Perez brings the experience, the skill sets, and the love for Zion we need to help us move forward and thrive. We ask that you pray for her and her family as they listen to God’s will and direction as we move forward together in the Call process. If you have questions about Mrs. Perez or the call process itself, please do not hesitate to ask a member of the committee.

About Spencer's Toy Chest.

The original Treasure Chest was donated by Spencer’s Treasures to St. Joseph Hospital. That organization was founded in 2000, in memory of five-year-old Spencer Stockton who died of a rare brain tumor. He was treated at CHOC and St. Joseph Hospital. After his family moved away from Southern California, St. Joseph Hospital staff and community members have kept the Treasure Chest filled with good things for pediatric patients receiving radiation therapies.

Quick Facts:

* The chest is refilled on an ongoing basis

* Toys must be new, due to infection control

* Thousands of toys are needed year-round

Depending on usage, the treasure chest can need up to 150 toys a week

Each child can choose one small item from the treasure chest after each radiation session, which can be once a day for weeks or maybe just one or two times, depending on the medical diagnosis. At the end of the entire treatment protocol, each child can choose a large item from the treasure chest to signal his or her successful completion of therapy! The age range of patients is from infant to teenagers
