Town Meeting Approves Changes to Zoning Bylaw for MBTA Multi-Family Housing, Special Permit Residential Developments |
This week, Town Meeting approved changes to Lexington's Zoning Bylaw (Article 33 and 34) aimed at providing additional housing options in town.
Article 33 focused on Special Permit Residential Developments. Among others, some of the goals of this article are to create attractive alternatives to conventional subdivisions, with smaller, more affordable, and sustainable homes.
With the passage of Article 34, Lexington became the first community in Massachusetts to pass zoning changes that comply with the State's MBTA Communities Multi-Family Zoning Law. The zoning changes allow for multi-family housing in certain areas throughout Lexington.
Town Meeting Reconvenes April 24
There will be no Town Meeting during school vacation week (April 17-21). Town Meeting will reconvene on Monday, April 24 at 7:30 PM.

Heads-up, Drivers! Spring has Sprung, Bringing More Users to the Roadways. New Law In-Effect |
Effective April 2023: An Act to Reduce to Traffic Fatalities requires drivers to give 4-feet of passing distance to vulnerable users on the roadway.
The act defines vulnerable users are people biking, walking and using wheelchairs, skateboards, roller skates, horse drawn carriages, farm equipment and roadside workers.
If it is “not possible to overtake a vulnerable user”, the new law explicitly allows vehicles to cross a double yellow line “when it is safe to do so and adhering to the roadway speed limit” in order to pass.
In addition, all cyclists must use rear red and front white lights while riding at night.

Is there a particular tree, or group of trees, that figures prominently in your life? Perhaps a tree where an important event happened? One you planted when a child was born or when someone dear passed away? One you climbed as a child or in whose shade you often sat?
Submit your stories to lexlivingland@gmail.com no later than April 22, and sooner if possible. Stories should be no more than 300 words in length. Feel free to attach a photo or drawing if you wish.
