Lexington's Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Wins Award from Mass. Rec. and Park Association
Kate DeAngelis, Lexington's Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, recently won the 2023 Therapeutic Recreation Award from the Massachusetts Recreation and Park Association (MRPA).
Kate was recognized for her work to expand inclusive recreation opportunities to people of all abilities. In just two years, Kate grew her position from part-time to a full-time role, which is justified in that her summer program inclusion requests grew from 3 the first year, to 125 the next year.

In celebration of Earth Month and Arbor Day (April 28), Lexington Living Landscapes and the Lexington Tree Committee are teaming up to gather and share stories of our trees. We’re looking for personal stories that help us understand the importance of trees in our lives.
Is there a particular tree, or group of trees, that figures prominently in your life? Perhaps a tree where an important event happened? One you planted when a child was born or when someone dear passed away? One you climbed as a child or in whose shade you often sat?
Submit your stories to lexlivingland@gmail.com no later than April 22, and sooner if possible. Stories should be no more than 300 words in length. Feel free to attach a photo or drawing if you wish.
Entries will be displayed in Cary Library through the month of April, in the windows of participating Lexington Center merchants Arbor Day weekend, and on the Lexington Living Landscapes website.
Help raise awareness of how much trees enrich our lives. Write your story today!

Hydrants Flushing Program Begins April 9
In an ongoing effort to provide our residents with quality drinking water, the Water Division will be conducting the annual town-wide Hydrant Flushing Program starting Sunday, April 9. The program will begin in both East Lexington and West Lexington and will continue moving from east to west and from west to east towards the middle of town until the flushing is completed.
Timing
In an effort to minimize any inconvenience, flushing of the water system will be completed between the hours of 9:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., Monday through Thursday. No flushing will be done during the weekends.
What to Expect
Residents may experience some discoloration in their water in the areas being flushed. If discoloration does occur, we ask that you run your cold water from a none-filtered faucet, like your bathtub or basement sink, for a short time to clear up the water.
You may want to plan your water usage, such as bathing, cooking or other water required activities, so they will not be during the time the system is being flushed. Or you can fill jugs of water.
Contact Information
We apologize for any inconvenience that may occur. If you have any question you can reach the Water Division at 781-274-8300 Ex.1 or visit us on the Town website.
